Taylor Makar was listed on the Colorado Eagles’ Opening Night roster released October 1, 2026, according to CBS Sports’ RotoWire report. That is an AHL roster development—not a place on the Colorado Avalanche’s NHL opening roster. Earlier snapshots had listed Makar as injured and/or non-roster.
Which roster is Taylor Makar on?
Makar appeared on the Colorado Eagles’ Opening Night roster, the Eagles being the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate. RotoWire described the listing as Makar being activated from injured non-roster status and assigned to Colorado’s AHL affiliate. That interpretation comes from the report; the available official snapshots establish his earlier status, not a direct transaction notice confirming the change.
The distinction matters: the NHL’s September 29 opening-roster snapshot listed Makar among Colorado’s “Injured and/or Non-Roster” players. The October 1 Eagles listing does not mean he made the Avalanche’s NHL opening roster.
How did his status change?
| Date | Roster update | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| September 28, 2026 | Colorado Avalanche transaction update | Makar was designated injured non-roster. The announcement separately listed players reassigned to the Eagles after clearing waivers. |
| September 29, 2026 | NHL opening-roster snapshot | Makar remained listed among Colorado’s injured and/or non-roster players. |
| October 1, 2026 | CBS Sports/RotoWire report | Makar appeared on the Eagles’ Opening Night roster; RotoWire characterized the listing as activation and assignment to the AHL affiliate. |
Makar’s contract and recent Eagles production
The Eagles announced on June 29, 2026, that Makar had signed a two-year contract through the 2027-28 season. The team’s announcement reports that he recorded 24 points—14 goals and 10 assists—in 52 AHL regular-season games in 2025-26. He then played in all 17 of Colorado’s Calder Cup playoff games, recording six points (two goals and four assists).
