Build around six main fighters, protect four-skill elites from accidental fusion, and prioritize upgrades that unlock new capabilities. That gives a new Tap Force account a practical direction without relying on a supposedly universal “best team”: the right lineup depends on your roster and whether you are playing campaign, Arena, faction-locked content, or Mech Event.

Tap Force is a free-to-play retro pixel fighter game with weapon shops and battles, according to its official website. Its store listing describes campaign, PvP, clubs, and group events; Google Play records an update date of September 1, 2026. Detailed progression mechanics below come from Combat Codex, an unofficial fan guide that says it uses community data and game-code verification and is not affiliated with the game’s developers. Check current in-game tooltips if an update changes a mechanic.

Who should you level first in Tap Force?

Start with six fighters you can field consistently, then make those six your level core. Combat Codex reports that Hard Mode, Sewers, and Club Smash auto-level fighters on both teams to the level of your sixth-highest fighter. In those modes, raising a seventh fighter above that threshold may raise the opponent baseline without giving your core six a matching advantage.

This is a starting plan, not a rule that every account must follow. Your available pulls and the content you are trying to clear matter. The practical point is to understand which fighters set the level baseline before spreading scarce leveling resources across the roster.

How auto-level changes the decision

The progression guide recommends keeping six principal fighters as the level core. It also suggests that other fighters can be brought to level 80 for weapon access in auto-level modes, provided you do not inadvertently push a seventh fighter above the core’s level. The same guide presents equipment and promotion as meaningful advantages in those modes.

Before leveling an extra fighter, check the level of your current sixth-highest fighter and consider whether the new level would change the baseline in Hard Mode, Sewers, or Club Smash. The exact effect is mode-specific; do not assume this rule applies to every battle.

How to build a beginner team

Choose a usable six-fighter group from the roster you actually have, rather than delaying progress to chase a perfect lineup. Think about what the team needs to do in the mode you are playing: deal damage, control enemies, support allies, or survive long enough to win.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
  • Campaign: Progression and control effects become relevant as you reach tougher stages. Combat Codex recommends establishing a campaign core before specializing around Mech Event.
  • Arena: A team that works in campaign may not perform the same way in PvP. Survivability and crowd control can matter in modes where a loss ends the fight.
  • Faction-locked content: Your choices may be limited by faction, so roster depth and available promotions matter alongside a fighter’s general reputation.
  • Mech Event: Treat a dedicated boss team as a later specialization if your campaign foundation is not yet established.

Faction matchups can also affect results. Combat Codex’s beginner guide reports that faction advantage gives +30% damage and +15% hit chance. Treat those figures as that fan guide’s reported mechanics, not as independently verified or guaranteed to remain unchanged.

When comparing two fighters, weigh their role, the mode you need them for, faction matchup, promotion-copy availability, and access to equipment and dragon slots. A fighter who excels in one mode may matter less in another; a single global tier label does not answer whether a fighter fits your account.

Which fighters should you keep, and should you fuse duplicates?

Check a fighter’s skill slots before using it for promotion. Combat Codex distinguishes four-skill elites from three-skill food fighters and advises keeping elite copies, including duplicates. In its guide, the three-skill category is the promotion-food category; the four-skill category is not safe to treat as interchangeable fodder.

The progression page adds a separate caution: avoid taking multiple copies of the same elite beyond Ultra. It also says resets return listed leveling resources but do not return fused copies. Because fusion decisions can be irreversible, inspect the fighter and its skill slots before confirming a promotion, and do not assume a reset will restore a consumed copy.

What should you upgrade first?

Use unlocks as milestones rather than pursuing levels for their own sake. Combat Codex lists these progression landmarks:

Milestone Reported unlock or use
Level 80 Weapon access
Level 180 / Master Fourth skill unlock

For a new account, prioritize the six-fighter core and campaign advancement, while keeping copies needed for promotion. That is a resource-management suggestion, not an official requirement; account needs can differ.

What should your daily progression loop include?

Keep the routine focused on rewards and content you can use, rather than treating every activity or shop purchase as mandatory. Combat Codex recommends a loop along these lines:

  1. Collect available offline rewards.
  2. Push the campaign as far as your team can reasonably progress; the guide identifies campaign as an early source of gold and XP.
  3. Use Arena tickets you have available.
  4. Check daily shop stock, but evaluate purchases against your current needs and resources.
  5. Participate in Mech Event, Club Smash, Hard Mode or Sewers, and rotating events when they are available and useful to your account.
  6. Join a club to access club content and its progression opportunities.

The guide frames this as a short daily routine, but its time estimate is not a measured study. Event availability and rewards can also change. Focus on the activities that advance your current goal; do not spend premium currency or buy items solely because an unofficial guide recommends them.
