The timing puts the deal alongside Grand Theft Auto VI’s approaching November 19, 2026 release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5—but Take-Two’s SEC filing does not say the renewal was made specifically for GTA 6.
What Take-Two’s new Xbox agreement does
Take-Two’s September 30, 2026 SEC filing says the company entered into a new long-term Xbox Publisher License Agreement with Microsoft on September 28, effective September 17. It supersedes and replaces all of Take-Two’s existing Xbox publisher license agreements with Microsoft. The license covers rights to develop, publish, manufacture, market, advertise, distribute, and sell Xbox-compatible products for Xbox devices. Read the SEC filing.
That is a broad publishing license, not a public announcement of a new Xbox-exclusive game or a GTA 6-specific contract. The filing’s summary describes rights and obligations applicable to Take-Two’s Xbox products generally.
What the public summary says about payments and approvals
The filing describes different payment arrangements for digital sales and physical-media manufacturing, but it does not disclose rates or amounts.

| Area | What the filing summary says |
|---|---|
| Digital products and content sold by Microsoft | Microsoft pays the applicable wholesale price and/or an agreed revenue share. The specific prices and revenue-share rates are not disclosed in the summary. |
| Physical-media products manufactured for Take-Two | Microsoft charges fees and royalties for each product. The amounts are not disclosed in the summary. |
| Game and materials review | Microsoft may review, evaluate, and approve each game concept and final game version, including packaging and marketing materials featuring Microsoft’s marks. |
| Termination and existing inventory | Either party may terminate for material breach or insolvency. Take-Two has certain rights to sell existing inventory after expiration or termination; the summary does not detail those rights. |
The filing calls its public description a summary. Take-Two said the full agreement text would be filed as an exhibit to its Form 10-Q for the quarter ending September 30, 2026. Until that exhibit is available, the precise contract duration and fuller economic terms are not established by the public summary.
Is GTA 6 confirmed for Xbox?
Yes. Take-Two and Rockstar announced GTA 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with a November 19, 2026 release date. That platform confirmation comes from the game announcement—not from the new license filing. The filing does not name GTA 6 as a title covered by a special clause or say the deal was renewed because of its launch. See Take-Two’s announcement.
The agreement’s timing is relevant platform context: it updates Take-Two’s broad rights to publish Xbox-compatible products as a major game launches on Xbox. It does not establish a GTA 6-specific commercial arrangement or reveal how revenue from that game will be divided.
GTA 6 preorder and boxed-version details
In its June announcement, Take-Two said preorders would begin June 25 at midnight local time, with an announced standard edition price of $79.99 and Ultimate Edition price of $99.99. Those are publisher-announced prices, not a comparison of retailer offers; check current listings for changes.

The SEC summary is not the full contract. The agreement exhibit referenced by Take-Two’s filing is the source to consult for the precise term and any additional provisions that are made public. The summary alone supports the conclusion that Take-Two renewed a broad Xbox publishing license; it does not support claims about undisclosed rates, a special GTA 6 clause, or the reason for the renewal.
