Yes. Surfshark announced on May 17, 2023 that its Windows VPN app was available through the Microsoft Store. Windows users can also download the app from Surfshark’s own download page. The Store release changes how you obtain the Windows app, not the VPN service itself.
What Surfshark’s Microsoft Store release means
The announcement covers Surfshark’s Windows application and its distribution through Microsoft Store. It does not announce a new VPN protocol, server network, privacy policy, or performance upgrade.
Surfshark said an official Store listing “minimizes the risks of malicious impersonator apps.” That is Surfshark’s stated rationale; no independent measurement of the reduction was provided.
Can you download Surfshark VPN from Microsoft Store?
That was the intended download route from May 17, 2023 onward. However, the announcement does not establish that the listing is visible in every country today, and the live listing was not independently inspected.

Microsoft says Store visibility can differ between PCs. Country or region settings, family settings, account restrictions, or an app’s removal from the Store can affect whether you can find or install an app. Those are general Microsoft Store conditions, not a confirmed Surfshark-specific restriction.

Requirements and Windows version caveats
- You need a Windows device and an active Surfshark subscription.
- Surfshark’s setup guide, updated September 11, 2026, lists Windows 7 or later for the Windows app.
- Surfshark separately notes that Windows 7 and Windows 8 require its Legacy app. Do not assume those versions install the same current app offered for newer Windows releases.
- An ARM64 download option is provided in Surfshark’s Windows support documentation for compatible Windows-on-ARM hardware.
How to install and connect
- Open Microsoft Store and search for the official Surfshark app. If it is not shown, check the device, account, region, and family-setting issues covered in Microsoft’s Store guidance, or use Surfshark’s download page.
- Install the Windows application.
- Launch Surfshark and sign in with the account linked to your active subscription.
- Select Quick-connect to connect automatically, or choose a specific location from the server list.
- After connecting, check your public IP address and run DNS-leak tests, as Surfshark recommends in its setup guide.

Connection controls
- Quick-connect: connects using Surfshark’s recommended location selection.
- Location selection: lets you choose a server location instead of using Quick-connect.
- Protocol choice: Surfshark’s Windows settings include VPN protocol options.
- Kill Switch: blocks traffic if the VPN connection unexpectedly drops, according to Surfshark.
Privacy and network tools
- CleanWeb: Surfshark describes it as blocking ads, trackers, malware, and phishing attempts.
- NoBorders: is intended for use on restrictive networks, according to Surfshark.
- Bypasser: lets you specify apps or websites that should use the VPN or bypass it.
Optional services and beta functions
Surfshark says Alert, Search, Antivirus, and Alternative ID require a Surfshark ONE subscription. The guide also marks several Windows functions, including Refresh and the server Performance Indicator, as beta. Availability and behavior of beta functions can change.
Server-count context
Surfshark’s September 11, 2026 support guide describes a network of 4,500+ servers in 100 countries. Those are Surfshark-published figures, not independently verified measurements in this article.

If the Store installation does not work
The app does not appear in search
Check your Microsoft Store country or region, signed-in account, family settings, and Windows compatibility. Microsoft notes that an app can be visible on one PC but not another. If the listing remains unavailable, use Surfshark’s download page.
Your Windows version is 7 or 8
Use Surfshark’s Legacy app guidance rather than assuming the newest Windows package is appropriate.

You installed the app but cannot connect
Confirm that you signed in with an account holding an active subscription, then try Quick-connect or another location. Once connected, verify the IP address and DNS behavior with leak tests.

What the Store release does—and does not—establish
- It establishes an official Microsoft Store distribution route for Surfshark’s Windows app, announced May 17, 2023.
