Supabase announced $150 million in new funding and an agreement to acquire database startup Turso on October 2, 2026. The acquisition price was not disclosed, and the announcement describes an agreement—not a confirmed completed transaction. For Turso users, the companies said the service will continue operating, existing databases, APIs, and workflows will continue, and Turso Database will remain open source and actively developed.
What Supabase announced
The $150 million funding round was led by Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, with CapitalG, IronArc, and SquarePeg participating, according to SiliconANGLE. Supabase announced the funding alongside its agreement to acquire Turso. Neither the acquisition price nor a completed closing was announced.
The announcement is separate from Supabase’s June 4, 2026 Series F: $500 million at a $10 billion pre-money valuation. At the time, Supabase also reported that database launches on its platform had grown 600% year over year. Those figures refer to the June round and the company’s report then, not the October funding announcement. Supabase’s Series F announcement
Why Supabase wants Turso
Supabase’s platform is built around PostgreSQL, while Turso develops SQLite-based database technology and a cloud platform for creating databases on demand. The companies’ rationale is that not every workload needs a full-scale Postgres database from the start: small, short-lived or agent-created tasks can use lightweight SQLite databases, with a path toward Postgres as an application grows. That is a stated product direction, not a claim that a migration or integrated product is already available. Supabase’s acquisition announcement

Supabase says Turso’s architecture can load and suspend databases and serve millions of databases from a single server. These are company descriptions, not independently verified performance results. Supabase also reported that it was launching more than one million databases per week in its October 2 announcement. Turso’s announcement
What the deal means for Turso users
At announcement time, both companies said Turso would continue operating, existing databases, APIs, and workflows would continue, and Turso Database would remain open source and actively developed. Supabase said it would continue building around Postgres. Supabase CEO Paul Copplestone summarized the stated plan: “For existing users, nothing changes. Supabase will continue building around Postgres, while Turso will continue its work on SQLite.”
That is an assurance about the companies’ plans on October 2, 2026; it is not a guarantee that every product detail will remain unchanged indefinitely. Users do not need to infer an immediate migration from the acquisition announcement. The companies described deeper integration as a future direction, not a shipped feature.

Supabase announced an agreement to acquire Turso. The available announcement does not establish that the transaction has closed, so it is more accurate to say Supabase agreed to acquire Turso than that it has completed the purchase.
