Spoiler warning: This article discusses the ending and the post-credits scene of Street Fighter (2026).
Short answer: There is one post-credits scene, and it is animated. M. Bison, accompanied by Vega and Cammy, recruits Sagat after Sagat loses to Ryu in the first World Warrior Tournament. The silent meeting places Sagat inside Shadaloo and points toward the organization’s Four Kings structure. Sagat is therefore positioned as a future Ryu rival, but he is not confirmed for a formally greenlit Street Fighter 2 movie because no sequel has been officially guaranteed.
What happens in the Street Fighter post-credits scene?
The film has a single post-credits scene rather than several separate tags. It appears as a short animated sequence after the main credits. The change in visual style is deliberate: the scene functions like a compact epilogue, connecting the 2026 film’s live-action story to the larger mythology associated with the games.

M. Bison arrives with Vega and Cammy to meet Sagat, the eye-patched Muay Thai fighter. Sagat is shown recovering from his defeat by Ryu in the first World Warrior Tournament. His recovery is not presented through a conversation or exposition. Instead, the image of Sagat repeatedly punching a tree communicates that the loss has left him angry, focused and determined to rebuild his strength.

There is no dialogue
No one speaks during the meeting. Bison’s approach and Sagat’s acceptance of the encounter carry the scene’s meaning. The absence of dialogue keeps the moment from explaining a detailed plan, a timetable or a specific mission. What the film establishes is the relationship: Bison is recruiting Sagat, and Sagat is being drawn into Shadaloo.
Why the recruitment matters
Sagat is not simply another fighter shown in isolation. His addition points toward Shadaloo’s Four Kings structure, a group associated with the organization’s highest-ranking fighters. The scene does not provide a complete roster or formally label every member, so it should be read as a setup rather than a finished organizational chart. It does, however, make Sagat’s allegiance the clearest new development after the credits.
Who is the fighter in the scene?
The fighter is Sagat. The visual clues are his distinctive eye patch, his Muay Thai identity and his placement immediately after the tournament defeat by Ryu. In the film’s continuity, he is the fighter who lost to Ryu in the first World Warrior Tournament and is now recovering from that loss.

That history gives the tag a personal dimension. Bison is recruiting a powerful combatant, but the audience also sees a grudge taking shape. Sagat’s motivation can plausibly operate on two levels: service to Shadaloo and a desire to settle the score with Ryu. The scene does not state which motive will dominate, so either could become more important in a sequel.
Does Street Fighter (2026) have a post-credits scene?
Yes. There is exactly one post-credits scene, and it is animated. Viewers do not need to wait for multiple additional scenes after it; the Sagat sequence is the film’s only post-credits tag described in the ending material.
Because it comes after the main credits, the scene is easy to miss if you leave immediately. Its short length should not be mistaken for a minor detail. The sequence supplies the film’s most direct signal about a possible next opponent for Ryu and about the future shape of Shadaloo.

How the ending sets up the next story
The post-credits tag works alongside the film’s final scenes. During the ending, Bison takes Akuma. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dan leave to pursue Bison, so the heroes are already committed to a chase when the credits begin. The story therefore leaves two connected threads open: the immediate pursuit of Bison and the longer-term rivalry between Ryu and Sagat.
The Bison and Akuma thread
Bison’s possession of Akuma creates the urgent plot problem. The ending does not resolve what Bison intends to do with him. The post-credits scene confirms that Bison is also expanding his forces, now bringing Sagat into the Shadaloo orbit with Vega and Cammy present. A continuation could follow the heroes trying to recover Akuma while confronting a more dangerous organization.
The Ryu and Sagat thread
Sagat’s defeat is the emotional trigger for a rematch story. Ryu has already beaten him once, and the tree-punching image presents Sagat as someone training through humiliation rather than accepting the result. If the filmmakers return to this thread, Sagat could become Ryu’s next major rival: a fighter whose challenge is personal, physical and tied directly to the first tournament.
Why both threads can coexist
The ending does not force a choice between the two ideas. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dan can pursue Bison as the central mission while Sagat develops into the opponent Ryu must eventually face. Sagat’s recruitment gives Bison a reason to stand between the heroes and Akuma, while Ryu’s earlier victory gives the confrontation a separate emotional stake.
Is Sagat in the Street Fighter 2 movie?
Not as a confirmed cast member or officially announced character. The scene strongly suggests that Sagat is being prepared for a continuation, but a suggestion is not a green light. Reporting from GamesRadar quotes director Kitao Sakurai saying, “It’s something that we’re thinking about and developing.” Sakurai also said the outcome depends on audience reaction and that he did not want to make promises about the story.

A possible sequel may be discussed internally or developed in early form without receiving formal approval, financing, a release date or a locked story. Calling the next film Street Fighter 2 is therefore shorthand for a potential continuation, not confirmation that such a movie exists as an announced production.

| Question | What the film establishes | What remains unknown |
|---|---|---|
| Is Sagat intended for a follow-up? | His recruitment and Ryu history make him a clear sequel setup. | Whether he will appear in a produced film, who will play him and how large his role would be. |
| Has a sequel been greenlit? | The director says a continuation is being thought about and developed. | No formal guarantee, release date, finalized plot or announced cast is established here. |
| Will the movie be called Street Fighter 2? | The title is a convenient label for discussion. | An official title has not been established. |
What is Shadaloo’s Four Kings connection?
The scene’s placement of Sagat beside Bison, Vega and Cammy points toward the Four Kings concept associated with Shadaloo. The film does not pause to explain the entire hierarchy, nor does it announce a completed lineup. Instead, it uses the recruitment as a visual clue that Bison is assembling a stronger inner circle.
That distinction prevents two common overstatements. First, Sagat’s appearance does not prove that every traditional Four Kings member will be in the next movie. Second, the scene does not establish each character’s rank or duties. What it does establish is that Sagat is no longer merely a defeated tournament opponent; he is being invited into Bison’s power structure.
What the 2026 film establishes about its world
Legendary describes the film as being set in 1993. It follows estranged fighters Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken Masters, played by Noah Centineo, after Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. Kitao Sakurai directed, and Paramount distributed the film theatrically on October 16, 2026.
This context explains why the post-credits scene emphasizes a first tournament and a newly forming alliance. The story is building its rivalries in stages: the tournament introduces the fighters, the ending sends the heroes after Bison and Akuma, and the tag adds Sagat as the next major pressure point.
Four possible directions for a sequel
The scene supports some predictions more strongly than others. The first two possibilities below follow directly from the ending and tag. The last two are open creative questions rather than established plans.
| Direction | Evidence in the film | What a sequel would need to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Sagat as Ryu’s personal rival | Sagat lost to Ryu, is shown training after the defeat and is recruited by Bison. | Whether the rematch is the main story, a parallel arc or a later confrontation. |
| Bison’s plan for Akuma | Bison takes Akuma, and the four heroes pursue him. | Why Bison wants Akuma and how that objective connects to Shadaloo’s expansion. |
| Continuation of the anime or flashback format | The post-credits sequence is animated, but the tag alone does not define the next film’s visual structure. | Whether animation remains a brief framing device, appears in flashbacks or becomes a larger storytelling mode. |
| A wider Shadaloo roster | Vega and Cammy accompany Bison, and Sagat is recruited. | Which additional fighters become central and whether the Four Kings idea drives the plot. |
Most direct path: a Ryu–Sagat rematch
A rematch is the simplest narrative payoff because the setup is visual and personal. Sagat’s training has an obvious target, and Ryu is already established as the person who defeated him. The filmmakers could make the rematch a tournament bout, a Shadaloo-controlled ambush or a confrontation that occurs while the heroes are pursuing Bison.

Most urgent path: rescue Akuma
The heroes’ immediate objective is locating Bison after he takes Akuma. This route would make the sequel a pursuit thriller with escalating fights. Sagat could serve as a gatekeeper protecting Bison, a rival whose loyalties shift or a parallel antagonist who eventually insists on fighting Ryu under fairer conditions.
Open stylistic question: animation and flashbacks
The tag’s animation distinguishes it from the main feature, but there is not enough information to claim that a sequel will adopt the same format. Animation could remain limited to short epilogues or flashbacks, or the filmmakers could use it more extensively. That is an editorial possibility, not a confirmed production decision.
Open world-building question: the Shadaloo roster
With Bison, Vega, Cammy and Sagat connected in the tag, a follow-up has room to expand the organization. The important uncertainty is scale. The story could focus tightly on these characters, or it could make a larger roster central to the conflict. The Four Kings reference indicates a direction without revealing how much of that structure the next film will show.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What viewers should not assume
- Do not assume there are several post-credit scenes. The ending material identifies one animated scene.
- Do not assume Sagat has been officially cast. The tag establishes the character’s narrative role, not a performer or production contract.
- Do not assume a sequel release date exists. The director’s comments describe discussion and development, not a scheduled release.
- Do not assume Bison’s plan is explained. The film leaves his purpose for taking Akuma unresolved.
- Do not treat every sequel theory as confirmed canon. The Ryu rivalry and Akuma pursuit are supported setups; decisions about format and the wider roster remain open.
How the scene changes the stakes
Before the credits, Bison is already a threat because he has taken Akuma and forced Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dan into pursuit. After the tag, the threat becomes organized. Bison is not shown operating alone: Vega and Cammy are with him, and Sagat is being recruited. The implication is that the heroes may face coordinated opponents rather than a single final villain.
For Ryu specifically, the stakes become both external and personal. Chasing Bison addresses the immediate danger, while Sagat represents the unresolved consequence of the first tournament. A sequel can use that contrast to test whether Ryu remains focused on the rescue mission when the fighter he defeated demands his attention.

The post-credits scene is a clear invitation to continue the story, not a guarantee that the continuation has been approved. Sagat is the fighter Bison recruits, and his defeat by Ryu makes him the most obvious future rival. The ending leaves Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dan pursuing Bison after Akuma is taken, giving a sequel two ready-made engines: a rescue mission and a Ryu–Sagat rivalry. Director Kitao Sakurai has said a follow-up is being considered and developed, while also warning that audience reaction will determine what happens. Until an official announcement says otherwise, Street Fighter 2 remains a possibility rather than a confirmed movie.
