OBS Studio is the clearer choice if you need a prerecorded video to repeat continuously on YouTube Live. Its Media Source has a documented Loop setting. Streamlabs Talk Studio documents scheduling and uploading prerecorded video, but its public guide does not confirm that a video repeats indefinitely. Choose Talk Studio for its browser-based scheduling workflow only if continuous looping is not essential—or after confirming current loop behavior in the product.

Neither product’s documentation establishes uninterrupted performance on a particular computer or network. Actual results depend on the file, computer, encoder configuration, power, and connection.
How to loop a prerecorded video with OBS
Set up one repeating video
- Open OBS Studio and select the scene that should remain on air. If you do not have one, create a scene for the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source. Give it a recognizable name.
- Choose the local video file in the Media Source properties. OBS supports common formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. OBS documents this option as controlling whether the file plays again when playback completes; its documented default is off.
- Check the preview, including the video’s framing and audio. Leave the intended scene active before starting the broadcast.
Loop a playlist instead
For a playlist, OBS documents a VLC Video source with a Loop Playlist property. VLC must be installed on the computer. For a single file, Media Source is the more direct option.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a livestream and configure its stream details in the Live Control Room.
- Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. YouTube’s encoder instructions use these details to connect the encoder to the broadcast.
- Keep the stream key private: YouTube documents it as functioning like the stream’s password and address. If it is compromised, reset it in YouTube’s live settings and update the encoder.
- Start the stream from the encoder workflow and confirm that the broadcast appears correctly in YouTube’s Live Control Room.
OBS’s Loop control establishes repeat playback inside the source; it does not by itself guarantee that a live broadcast will remain uninterrupted. The workflow has not been validated on every computer, file, encoder configuration, or Indian ISP connection.

How Talk Studio handles prerecorded video
Streamlabs describes Talk Studio as a web-based platform. Its guide documents scheduling a stream, choosing destinations, selecting the prerecorded-video option, uploading a file, and entering details such as title, description, date, time, and thumbnail. That is a documented scheduled-upload workflow—not confirmation that the video repeats continuously after it ends.
- Open Talk Studio and follow its scheduling flow.
- Choose the destination or destinations and select the prerecorded-video option.
- Upload the video, then enter the stream details and schedule it.
- If you need the same file to loop indefinitely, check the current Talk Studio controls or confirm with Streamlabs before relying on it.
Talk Studio’s guide also describes video clips used as intros or outros; those are distinct from an endlessly repeating main-program video. Its general guide says the service is free to use and that subscriptions offer additional perks. Check current product pages for any present-day plan or feature entitlements.

Check your connection and stream plan
Upload speed and network stability
Streamlabs’ getting-started guide recommends a stable connection and prefers Ethernet. The following are the guide’s published upload figures, not guarantees for a specific ISP, encoder configuration, or location:

Measure sustained upload speed and stability where the computer will actually stream, ideally at the time of day you plan to broadcast. For a long-running stream in India, also check your ISP’s data limits and reliability at that location. A wired connection may help where the computer and router support it, but an Ethernet cable is optional and is not a guarantee of uptime.

Camera and audio gear
YouTube lists a webcam, microphone, and headphones as typical hardware for casual streams. They may help if you add live presentation or voice, but are not prerequisites for playing a prerecorded file through OBS.
Copyright, archives, and monetization
- Confirm that you have the rights needed to broadcast both the video and its audio. YouTube’s live settings include rights-management controls; no tool choice establishes that you own or may use the content.
- YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. Check the current YouTube guidance and your own stream setup if archiving is important.
- Live monetization depends on the channel’s eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program and its current settings. Choosing OBS or Talk Studio does not make a channel eligible.

The video plays once and stops
In OBS, open the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. The documented default is off. For a playlist source, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
The Talk Studio upload does not repeat
The public prerecorded-video guide establishes scheduled upload and playback, not continuous looping. Verify the current product behavior before scheduling a long-running broadcast that depends on repeats.

The stream does not connect to YouTube
Check that the server URL and stream key in the encoder match the current YouTube Live Control Room details. If the key was reset or exposed, use the replacement key in the encoder. Confirm the stream is started or scheduled in YouTube as intended.
The stream drops or becomes unstable
Check sustained upload speed at the streaming location, reduce the output demands if they exceed what the connection can sustain, and prefer Ethernet where supported. Streamlabs’ published upload recommendations are guidance, not a diagnosis or guarantee for a particular network.
The live video or archive is missing audio
Check that the media file contains the intended audio and that the source and OBS audio meters show activity. If you are adding a live microphone, verify the selected input separately. Test privately or with an unlisted stream before a public broadcast.
Frequently asked questions
Does OBS work for a playlist as well as one file?
Yes. OBS documents a VLC Video source for playlists, with Loop Playlist; VLC must be installed.
Can I monetize a prerecorded YouTube Live stream?
Potentially, if the channel is in the YouTube Partner Program and its current live monetization settings permit it. Check eligibility and settings in YouTube; the encoder does not determine them.
