Turn Disconnect Protection off, or enable Multistream on Streamlabs.com if you need to keep it on. If YouTube does receive the stream and it then drops, check upload stability and bitrate before troubleshooting the phone.
First check whether YouTube is receiving the stream
Open YouTube’s live control room or view the stream from another device. If the broadcast is absent there while Streamlabs Mobile still shows a live status or timer, the app’s status alone does not confirm that YouTube is receiving video.
Streamlabs Support documented this particular mobile symptom in connection with Disconnect Protection failing to connect properly to Streamlabs servers. The issue does not explain every disconnection, so use this check to distinguish a false-live appearance from a stream YouTube actually received.
Fix the documented Disconnect Protection issue
- Turn Disconnect Protection off: In Streamlabs Mobile, open the menu in the top-left, select Disconnect Protection, and switch it off. Start a test broadcast and confirm that YouTube receives it.
- Or keep the feature on and enable Multistream: Streamlabs lists enabling Multistream from your account on Streamlabs.com as another workaround. Then test again and verify receipt in YouTube’s live control room.
These are workarounds for the documented false-live symptom, not established fixes for unrelated network instability. Streamlabs describes Disconnect Protection as showing viewers a “Be Right Back” screen when a connection drops; it does not repair the underlying connection. Streamlabs’ mobile guide lists the feature as part of Ultra.

If YouTube receives the stream but it keeps dropping
Check bitrate against upload capacity
Video and audio together use upload bandwidth. If their combined bitrate is too high for the connection available to the phone, the stream may struggle or disconnect. Compare the stream’s bitrate settings with the upload capacity you can sustain, not just the highest number shown by a speed test. The available guidance does not establish one bitrate target that suits every phone, resolution, and network.
Check stability, not just peak speed
A speed test is a momentary snapshot: it cannot establish that the connection will remain stable throughout a live broadcast or rule out packet loss. If you are on Wi-Fi, check whether the stream behaves differently on cellular, or vice versa, where available. Restarting network equipment is one of Streamlabs’ general troubleshooting steps. Make one change at a time and test whether YouTube continues receiving the stream.

Know what frame warnings point to
- Dropped frames: Streamlabs Support says these occur when network issues exist and may be caused by servers or equipment. For a phone stream, start with connection stability and bitrate.
- Lagged frames: Streamlabs associates these with compositor overload or high GPU use. Desktop-specific menu instructions for this issue do not apply to Streamlabs Mobile.
- Skipped frames: Streamlabs associates these with encoder overload, often involving high CPU use. Desktop encoder controls should not be treated as phone settings.
These categories point toward different causes; changing an encoder setting will not necessarily fix a network drop.
Prepare your phone for another test
- Close other apps before going live to reduce potential lag or crashes.
- Turn off notifications to avoid interruptions while streaming.
- After changing a setting or network, run a short test and confirm the broadcast appears in YouTube.
When to contact Streamlabs support
If the broadcast still fails, provide details that help distinguish a false-live problem from a connection or device issue:
