STRANGER THAN HEAVEN launches on January 15, 2027. SEGA confirmed the date in its June 8, 2026 announcement. The game is planned for current-generation PlayStation, Xbox, PC, cloud and Steam platforms, with day-one Xbox Game Pass access and Xbox Play Anywhere support. Pre-orders are open at select retailers, but final worldwide pricing and several launch details have not been announced.
Release date: January 15, 2027
SEGA’s June 8, 2026 release announcement gives STRANGER THAN HEAVEN a firm launch date of January 15, 2027. That is the date currently supported by the publisher’s announcement, rather than an earlier seasonal window or an estimated quarter.
The announcement does not establish a universal launch hour. Digital stores can release games at different local times, and the official information currently available does not specify when downloads will unlock in each country or time zone. If you are planning to play immediately, check the storefront attached to your account closer to launch instead of assuming a midnight release everywhere.

Confirmed platforms
SEGA lists the following platforms for launch. “Xbox on PC” is the publisher’s wording for the Windows Xbox ecosystem; it is separate from the Steam listing even though both are PC options.

No PlayStation 4 version has been announced in the cited materials, so the confirmed PlayStation version should be treated as PS5-only until SEGA says otherwise. The same materials do not confirm a Nintendo Switch 2 edition.
Xbox Game Pass and Play Anywhere
Day-one Game Pass access
Xbox Wire reported on May 6, 2026 that STRANGER THAN HEAVEN will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass. This gives subscribers an access route at launch rather than adding the game sometime after release. The announcement does not state a separate retail price for each Game Pass tier, nor does it say how long the title will remain in the catalog, so those details should be checked in the current Xbox listing before release.
What Xbox Play Anywhere means here
Xbox Wire also identifies the game as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. For a compatible digital purchase, that program is designed to connect the Xbox console and Windows PC versions under the same Xbox account, rather than requiring separate purchases for those two Xbox destinations. The announcement confirms the entitlement but does not publish the game’s final install size, PC requirements, cross-progression details or supported save features.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
That distinction matters when choosing a purchase path. A Steam purchase is a Steam entitlement, while an Xbox purchase is the route associated with Play Anywhere. Someone who expects to move between an Xbox Series console and an Xbox PC installation should verify that the store page identifies the product as Play Anywhere before buying.
Pre-orders and the advertised bonus
Where pre-orders are available
SEGA says pre-orders are open at select retailers. “Select” is important: availability can vary by country, retailer and edition, and the announcement does not provide one worldwide pre-order catalog. A listing may also show a different physical or digital package depending on the market.
Dosu: Kagekiri weapon
The PlayStation product page advertises the Dosu: Kagekiri weapon as a pre-order bonus. That page also warns that pre-order information may change. Treat the weapon as an advertised incentive, not as a permanently guaranteed feature across every retailer, platform or region. Before paying, confirm that the exact product page includes the bonus and explains whether it is delivered as a code, an account entitlement or an in-game unlock.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Standard, Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions
SEGA describes three editions: Standard, Digital Deluxe and Collector’s. The announcement establishes the edition names and selected Collector’s contents, but it does not publish a final worldwide price or a complete item-by-item specification for every package.

|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Physical or digital availability depends on platform and retailer. | The base game is implied by the edition name; a complete contents list is not stated. | Worldwide price, regional pricing and a complete bonus list are not stated (SEGA, June 8, 2026). |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | Digital edition. | SEGA confirms the edition exists, but does not publish the full digital contents in the cited announcement. | Price, exact digital extras and regional availability are not stated (SEGA, June 8, 2026). |
| Collector’s Edition | Physical collector package with digital bonuses. | Physical vinyl record, steelbook, collector’s box and digital bonuses. | Price, production quantity, retailer coverage, shipping date and the complete digital-bonus list are not stated (SEGA, June 8, 2026). |
The Collector’s Edition is therefore confirmed as a merchandise-focused package, not merely a higher-priced download. Its physical components make stock, shipping region and replacement policies practical considerations. Retailer pages should be checked for the exact contents and delivery terms before placing an order.
How to choose a purchase route
Choose Xbox when you want console-and-PC flexibility
An Xbox digital purchase is the clearest fit for someone who may use both an Xbox Series console and an Xbox PC installation, because Xbox Wire explicitly attaches Play Anywhere support to the title. It is also the route associated with day-one Game Pass access. Confirm the product label and the account you intend to use before checkout.

Choose Steam for a Steam-library purchase
Steam is a separately confirmed PC option. Choose it if you want the game attached to your Steam library or if your PC setup is centered on that storefront. The available announcements do not say whether Steam and Xbox versions share saves, achievements or purchases, so do not assume cross-store entitlements.
Choose PlayStation 5 for the Sony console version
PS5 is the confirmed PlayStation platform. The PlayStation product page is also the source currently advertising the Dosu: Kagekiri pre-order weapon. Check the regional PlayStation Store page or participating retailer for the edition, bonus wording and delivery method that apply to your account.

Consider the Collector’s Edition only if the physical contents matter
The Collector’s package is aimed at buyers who specifically want the vinyl record, steelbook and collector’s box in addition to digital extras. Because SEGA has not stated a global price, manufacturing quantity or shipping coverage, compare the retailer’s final checkout information rather than relying on an assumed conversion from another region.

What has not been confirmed
Several commonly searched details remain open. Keeping them separate from confirmed information prevents an announcement from being mistaken for a complete launch specification.
- Worldwide price: No final global price is established for the Standard, Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition.
- Regional launch time: The official materials provide the calendar date but not an exact unlock hour for each country or time zone.
- Review-embargo timing: No review-embargo date is stated.
- Nintendo Switch 2: A Switch 2 version is not confirmed in the cited announcements.
- PC requirements and storage: CPU, GPU, memory, operating-system, installation-size and performance requirements have not been published in the supplied official information.
- Cross-save details: Play Anywhere support is confirmed, but the announcements do not spell out every save, achievement or multiplayer entitlement across Xbox console and PC.
- Complete edition contents: The full Standard and Digital Deluxe item lists, and the complete set of Collector’s digital bonuses, are not stated.
A practical launch checklist
- Pick the ecosystem first. Decide whether the purchase should live in the Xbox ecosystem, Steam or PlayStation before comparing editions.
- Check the exact platform label. Xbox console and Xbox PC purchases are connected to Play Anywhere, while Steam and PlayStation are separate storefront choices.
- Verify the edition contents. Read the current listing for Standard, Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition and confirm every physical and digital item shown at checkout.
- Check the pre-order incentive. If the Dosu: Kagekiri weapon matters to you, make sure the retailer’s listing explicitly includes it; the PlayStation page says details may change.
- Review regional terms. Confirm currency, taxes, shipping territory, release date display and cancellation rules, especially for the physical Collector’s package.
- Plan the download or delivery. Digital buyers should allow time for a potentially large installation, while physical buyers should account for shipping rather than assuming access at the first minute of launch day.
- Recheck official listings near release. Prices, bonus language, stock and platform-specific details can be updated after the initial announcement.
Bottom line on the current announcement
The firm information is straightforward: STRANGER THAN HEAVEN has a January 15, 2027 release date, five named launch destinations spanning PS5, Xbox, PC, cloud and Steam, day-one Xbox Game Pass availability, and Xbox Play Anywhere support. Pre-orders exist at selected retailers, and SEGA has outlined Standard, Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions, with the Collector’s package including a vinyl record, steelbook, collector’s box and digital bonuses. Price, regional unlock timing, review timing, PC requirements, a Switch 2 release and several detailed entitlement questions still await official clarification.
