Yes. SteelSeries Aeon Pro works with Xbox, PC, and mobile, but each platform uses a different connection path. Xbox wireless play goes through the Aeon Pro base station; PC also supports Bluetooth or a direct USB-C connection; and phones and tablets pair over Bluetooth. Its interchangeable-battery system lets the dock charge a spare battery while you continue playing, so swapping batteries can provide effectively continuous use.

SteelSeries describes the controller as supporting PC, Xbox, and mobile without re-pairing or re-plugging when moving between those connection paths. In practice, the base station is the important distinction: it is mandatory for Xbox wireless play, optional on PC, and unnecessary for Bluetooth mobile use.
How to use Aeon Pro with Xbox
What you need
- The Aeon Pro controller and its base station.
- A USB-A port on the Xbox for the base station.
- A charged controller battery.
Connection steps
- Connect the base station directly to a USB-A port on the Xbox.
- Place a charged battery in the controller.
- Turn on the controller and select it from the console’s controller or accessory interface if the Xbox presents a selection prompt.
- Use the base station’s display to confirm the active device and profile.
Do not plan on Bluetooth as an Xbox replacement. The compatibility guidance specifies base-station wireless for Xbox, while the Bluetooth and direct-cable alternatives apply to PC.
For the most stable Xbox connection, avoid routing the base station through a hub or dock. SteelSeries recommends a direct USB-A connection to the console or computer.

Can you use Aeon Pro on PC without the base station?
Yes. A PC can use Aeon Pro in either of two base-station-free ways:
- Bluetooth: Pair the controller from the computer’s Bluetooth settings.
- Wired USB: Connect the controller with a USB-C-to-USB-A cable.
Bluetooth setup
- Open the computer’s Bluetooth settings and choose the option to add a new Bluetooth device.
- Put Aeon Pro into Bluetooth pairing mode using the controller’s pairing control.
- Select Aeon Pro when it appears in the device list and wait for the operating system to show it as connected.
- In your game or system controller settings, select Aeon Pro as the input device if it is not selected automatically.
Bluetooth is convenient for a laptop or a desktop that lacks a free USB-A port. It also gives Aeon Pro its longest published single-charge estimate, although actual runtime depends on the computer, game, wireless conditions, and controller settings.
USB cable setup
- Connect the USB-C end to Aeon Pro.
- Connect the USB-A end directly to the PC.
- Wait for the operating system to recognize the controller, then select it in the game’s input menu if necessary.
A wired connection is the simplest fallback if Bluetooth pairing fails or if you need to keep playing while troubleshooting wireless settings. It also avoids relying on a USB hub for the controller’s data path.

Does Aeon Pro work with a phone or tablet?
Yes. Mobile support is Bluetooth-only in the compatibility guidance. The base station is not needed.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the phone or tablet.
- Put Aeon Pro into Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Tap Aeon Pro in the available-device list.
- Launch the game or app and choose the controller input option if the app does not switch automatically.
If the controller is still connected to another device, disconnect it there before starting a new pairing attempt. Mobile operating systems can retain an old pairing record even when the controller is ready to connect elsewhere; removing the stale record and pairing again is the usual recovery step.
How long does the Aeon Pro battery last?
SteelSeries’ current support guidance gives different estimates by connection mode and setup. These are published figures, not independent laboratory measurements.

Why the PC figure is lower
SteelSeries links the 11.5-hour PC estimate to a 1000 Hz polling rate. Console use, or using a headset connected to the controller, locks polling to 250 Hz and reduces the controller’s power demand, which is why those situations are listed at 12.5 hours instead.

Aeon Pro uses two interchangeable batteries rather than relying on one permanently installed pack. The dock charges the spare battery while the controller is in use. When the installed battery is depleted, replace it with the charged spare and place the depleted one in the dock. SteelSeries describes this dual-battery arrangement as extending battery life “endlessly” through battery swaps; that means uninterrupted operation when you keep one battery charging, not that a single charge lasts forever.
Runtime still varies with connection mode, polling behavior, headset load, firmware, wireless conditions, and other settings. SteelSeries’ figures should therefore be treated as mode-specific estimates rather than a guarantee for every session.

Can you use an Arctis Nova Pro battery in Aeon Pro?
Yes. SteelSeries states that Aeon Pro batteries are compatible with batteries for the following products:

Use batteries identified by SteelSeries as compatible with the relevant Nova-series headset family. Do not assume that an unrelated rechargeable pack with a similar shape or voltage is safe; the compatibility statement applies to the named SteelSeries battery design.
What does the base station do?
The base station is more than the Xbox wireless adapter. It connects Aeon Pro to a host device, charges the spare battery, and stores the interchangeable thumbstick caps. Its OLED display can switch between connected devices, select profiles, remap buttons, and show battery levels.

That combination is useful if you move between Xbox and PC regularly: the base station remains the central wired connection while the controller keeps its interchangeable-battery workflow. On a PC, however, you can leave the base station out entirely and use Bluetooth or the USB-C cable.
Will Aeon Pro work through a USB hub?
It may, but SteelSeries does not guarantee every hub or dock. The company’s stability guidance is to connect the base station directly to a USB-A port on the Xbox or PC.
If a hub causes dropouts
- Move the base station from the hub to a direct USB-A port.
- Disconnect other high-bandwidth devices from nearby ports while testing.
- Try a different direct USB-A port on the console or computer.
- On a PC, switch temporarily to Bluetooth or a direct USB-C-to-USB-A cable to determine whether the problem is limited to the hub path.
A powered hub can provide more available power, but it does not turn an unverified hub into a guaranteed connection. Direct attachment remains the recommended arrangement.
Controls, customization, and profile features
Compatibility is only part of the buying decision. SteelSeries lists these hardware and configuration features for Aeon Pro:
- 18 mechanical switches.
- Hall Effect thumbsticks.
- Hall Effect triggers with selectable full-travel or hair-trigger travel.
- Four rear paddles.
- Interchangeable concave, convex, standard, and long thumbstick caps.
- PC configuration through SteelSeries GG.
The OLED interface provides on-device access to device switching, profiles, button remapping, and battery information. This can reduce the need to open software for routine changes, while SteelSeries GG provides the PC-based configuration layer.
Which connection should you choose?

Troubleshooting quick checks
Xbox does not detect the controller
- Confirm the base station is connected directly to the Xbox, not through a hub.
- Check that the controller battery is charged and seated correctly.
- Power-cycle the controller and reconnect the base station.
PC Bluetooth pairing fails
- Disconnect Aeon Pro from another paired host.
- Remove an old Aeon Pro entry from the computer’s Bluetooth list, then pair again.
- Use the direct USB-C-to-USB-A cable while diagnosing the wireless connection.
Battery life seems shorter than expected
- Identify the active mode first: SteelSeries lists separate figures for Xbox, PC, and Bluetooth.
- On PC, remember that the 1000 Hz polling-rate setup is associated with the 11.5-hour estimate.
- Keep the spare battery charging in the dock so a swap is ready before the installed battery runs down.
