Microsoft has also announced PS5 versions of specific other games, while describing some upcoming titles as Xbox console exclusives. The announcements point to game-by-game platform decisions—not a blanket promise that Xbox exclusives will come to PS5.
When did Starfield come to PS5?
Bethesda announced the PS5 version on March 17, 2026, and released it on April 7. The launch coincided with the Free Lanes update and Terran Armada story DLC. Bethesda’s launch announcement describes PS5 features including DualSense adaptive triggers that vary by weapon, light-bar indicators for health and ship integrity, touchpad shortcuts, and controller-speaker audio. These are publisher descriptions, not independent performance tests.

For PS5 Pro, Bethesda lists a Visual mode targeting 4K at 30 fps and a Performance mode targeting 60 fps with improved visuals. Those figures are also publisher claims; they should not be read as independently verified results.
Which other Xbox games are confirmed for PS5?
Xbox’s January 22, 2026 Developer_Direct recap announced Fable for PS5, alongside Xbox, PC, Steam, cloud, and Game Pass Ultimate. It also said Forza Horizon 6 would arrive on PS5 later in 2026, after its May launch. The announcement confirms the plans, but does not establish that Forza Horizon 6 is already available on PS5. Does this mean every Xbox exclusive will come to PlayStation?
No. In its June 7, 2026 showcase recap, Xbox called Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution “Xbox console exclusives” and said they were “not timed exclusives.” The same recap said previously announced multiplatform games would proceed as planned. That leaves a title-by-title picture: some releases are announced for PS5, while others are explicitly identified as Xbox console exclusives. Neither statement establishes a universal rule for future games. Read Xbox’s June 2026 showcase recap for its wording and announced plans.
“Xbox console exclusive” describes console availability; it does not, by itself, mean a game is unavailable on PC. Check the platforms named in each publisher announcement rather than inferring a PS5 release from a studio’s ownership or a franchise’s history.

How did Microsoft’s position on Starfield change?
- December 2022: A Microsoft ZeniMax fact sheet described Starfield as planned for Xbox and PC and said it would release only on those platforms. That is a historical statement, not its current platform status. Microsoft’s fact sheet.
- February 2024: The Associated Press reported that Phil Spencer’s then-announced move of four games to rival consoles did not include Starfield or Indiana Jones. That report predates the PS5 announcement. Associated Press report.
- March 17 and April 7, 2026: Bethesda announced the PS5 release date and then listed the game as available. Its Starfield and PlayStation news listing records the availability notice.
- June 7, 2026: Xbox identified two upcoming games as Xbox console exclusives while saying already-announced multiplatform releases would keep their plans. Xbox’s recap.
Which Starfield PS5 edition should you choose?
Bethesda lists physical and digital versions of the PS5 Standard and Premium Editions. The Premium Upgrade is digital only and requires the base game separately. The edition contents are listed in Bethesda’s PlayStation edition guide.
