Yes. Snagit can capture a full webpage, long table, or other content that extends beyond the visible screen. In Snagit, choose All-in-One capture, point at the scrollable area, then select the vertical, horizontal, or combined scrolling arrow. Snagit scrolls and stitches the result, which you can edit in Snagit Editor. It also supports manual scrolling when automatic movement is unreliable.
How to take a full-page screenshot in Snagit
- Start an All-in-One capture. Open Snagit and select All-in-One as the capture type.
- Open the content. Display the webpage, application window, or table you want to capture. Maximize the window when possible.
- Place the crosshairs over the scrollable region. Avoid selecting the browser scrollbar itself. Snagit should show orange scrolling arrows.
- Choose a direction. Select the vertical arrow for a tall page, the horizontal arrow for a wide table, or the combined option when content extends in both directions.
- Let Snagit assemble the capture. Keep the page movement smooth and in one direction. If you need to control the movement, use manual scrolling instead of automatic scrolling.
- Edit and export. The finished image opens in Snagit Editor. Add annotations, highlights, callouts, crops, or trims, then copy, save, or share it.
The capture includes content outside the visible screen, so a long webpage does not have to be photographed in separate viewport-sized pieces.
Vertical, horizontal, and combined scrolling
Vertical webpages
Use the vertical scrolling arrow for articles, documentation, dashboards, and other pages that continue below the fold. The browser window must expose a scrollable page area that Snagit can detect.
Wide tables and applications
Use the horizontal arrow for spreadsheets, comparison tables, and application panels that extend past the right edge. Snagit can capture content that is wider than the current viewport.

Pages that scroll in both directions
For a canvas or data grid that is both tall and wide, choose the combined scrolling option if it appears. Complex interfaces may contain more than one scrollable panel; in that case, select the specific panel rather than the whole window.
What Snagit does after capture
Snagit is a capture-and-editor workflow rather than only a browser command. After stitching, Snagit Editor lets you annotate, highlight, add callouts, crop, trim, copy, save, and share the result. This is useful when a full-page image must also explain a defect, document a process, or mark a particular row in a large table.
Why the scrolling arrows may be missing
Snagit relies on detecting a usable scrolling region. The arrows may not appear when the selected area is too small, the scrollbar is part of the selection, or a floating control obscures the page. Try these corrections in order:
- Enlarge or maximize the browser or application window.
- Move the selection off the scrollbar and onto the content area.
- Hide floating toolbars, chat bubbles, cookie controls, and other overlays temporarily.
- Return application or browser zoom to 100%.
- Try a different browser.
- Open the page in a private or incognito window to rule out extension conflicts.
- Scroll smoothly in one direction rather than making abrupt jumps.
Multiple nested scroll regions, security software, incompatible display drivers, and parallax effects can prevent reliable detection. If one panel scrolls while the outer page stays fixed, capture the panel itself and use manual movement when necessary.

When automatic scrolling produces an incomplete image
Capture stops early
Check that the page has finished loading before starting. Lazy-loaded images may appear only after you reach their position, and animated or continuously updating content can change while Snagit is stitching. Pause animations where the site allows it, close overlays, and repeat with a larger window.
Repeated, missing, or misaligned sections
Parallax layouts and pages with independently moving panels can confuse stitching. Use manual scrolling, move in small consistent increments, and avoid switching direction during one capture. A different browser or an incognito window can remove scripts and extensions that interfere with scrolling.
The page is blank or blocked
A bot check, login wall, network failure, or security product can prevent the browser from rendering the page. Resolve the block in the browser first; Snagit cannot reconstruct content that never loaded.
Manual scrolling and macOS panoramic capture
Automatic scrolling is convenient, but manual scrolling is the fallback when detection fails or when you need precise control over which sections are included. Start the scrolling capture, move through the content steadily, and stop when the final section is visible.

On macOS, TechSmith documents Panoramic/Scrolling Capture as an alternative to automatic scrolling. It is particularly useful when a page or application does not expose a scrollbar that Snagit can follow. Parallax websites may still be captured inaccurately because their layers move at different rates.
Capturing a full-page or multi-page PDF
Snagit’s All-in-One method may not detect the scrollbar inside a PDF reader. The simplest documented workaround is to print from the PDF reader to the Snagit Printer. In some cases, opening the PDF in Chrome or Firefox exposes a scrollable document that can be captured with the normal workflow. For a true multi-page document, printing to the Snagit Printer is generally the more direct route.
Choosing the right output
- PNG: best when annotations, text edges, or lossless detail matter.
- JPEG: useful for smaller photographic or web-oriented files, with some compression.
- PDF: preferable when the result will be distributed as a document or printed.
After editing, use Snagit Editor’s save or share controls and choose the format that matches the destination. Extremely tall captures can be difficult to view in an image viewer; splitting a long result into logical sections may improve readability.
Snagit versus browser and API approaches
Snagit is strongest when you need a human-controlled desktop capture followed by immediate annotation. Browser-native full-page commands can be quick for a simple page, while an API is better for repeatable, unattended jobs. Compare tools using the capabilities that affect your page:

Or skip the browser setup
For automated or repeatable captures, ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to try: it removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; and its MCP server lets AI agents such as Claude or Cursor call screenshot tools directly. Every plan includes the features, with 1,000 screenshots per month free without a card and paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000.
One GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. The API accepts full-page capture, a CSS selector for one element, device presets, custom viewports, retina scale, dark mode, lazy-image loading, waits, clicks, custom CSS and JavaScript, hidden selectors, blocked resources, cookies, headers, authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, caching, signed links, asynchronous webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, and usage reporting. Each response includes X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers so you can see whether a clean capture was billed.
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for parameter details. Replace the example URL with the page you need.

No scrolling arrow appears
- Use All-in-One capture and hover over the content, not the scrollbar.
- Maximize the window and restore zoom to 100%.
- Hide overlays and try another browser or a private window.
Only part of the page is captured
- Confirm that you selected the correct scrollable region.
- Wait for lazy content to load and repeat with smooth, one-direction scrolling.
- Use manual scrolling or macOS Panoramic/Scrolling Capture.
The result is distorted
- Test without parallax effects, nested scroll panels, or browser extensions.
- Close floating toolbars and update display drivers or security software settings if they are blocking capture.
A PDF will not scroll
Print it to the Snagit Printer, or open it in Chrome or Firefox and try the webpage workflow.

FAQ
Can Snagit capture an entire webpage?
Yes. Its scrolling capture extends beyond the visible screen and can move vertically, horizontally, or in both directions.
Can I capture just one element?
In Snagit, select the relevant scrollable panel and capture that region. For automated jobs, ScreenshotNeo accepts a CSS selector for a single element.
Why does a private window help?
It can remove browser-extension conflicts that alter scrolling, overlays, or page layout.
Does full-page capture work on every site?
No. Nested scroll regions, parallax layouts, security software, drivers, and pages that fail to load can prevent accurate results. Manual scrolling or another capture method may be required.
