If the SingleFile icon has disappeared from Chrome’s toolbar, open the Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece button), find SingleFile, and select Pin. If SingleFile is missing from that menu, check whether it is installed and enabled at More > Extensions > Manage extensions.
Pin SingleFile back to Chrome’s toolbar
- In Chrome, select the puzzle-piece Extensions button near the right side of the toolbar. If you do not see it, open Chrome’s More menu and choose Extensions.
- Find SingleFile in the menu.
- Select the pin control beside it. The icon should then appear in the toolbar.
Chrome’s guidance describes pinning as the way to bring a hidden extension back to the toolbar. This changes the icon’s visibility; it does not install or enable an extension that is absent or switched off. Google Chrome Help: Install and manage extensions.
If SingleFile is not in the Extensions menu
- Open More > Extensions > Manage extensions.
- Look for SingleFile in the list. If it is there, use the relevant status below; if it is not, Chrome does not currently list it as installed in this profile.
- If it is not installed, use the installation route linked from the SingleFile project documentation, which identifies the Chrome Web Store as an option.

SingleFile is listed but switched off
On Manage extensions, switch SingleFile on. Then return to the Extensions menu and pin it if its icon is still hidden.

Chrome says the extension is unsupported
Follow the unsupported-extension instructions shown by Chrome. Google says re-enabling an unsupported extension may be available temporarily for a limited period; it is not a permanent compatibility fix. In a managed browser, an administrator may control whether unsupported extensions can be re-enabled through Chrome Enterprise Policy. If the controls are unavailable, ask your administrator about the browser’s policy.
Extension controls are unavailable
When Chrome is managed by an organization, policy can affect extension settings. The exact policy on your device is not established by the fact that controls are missing, so contact the administrator rather than assuming the extension is broken.

Use SingleFile while the icon is hidden
SingleFile’s project documentation describes saving a page by clicking its toolbar button. Its current Chrome Web Store listing also documents Ctrl+Shift+Y for saving the current or selected tabs. The available documentation does not establish that the shortcut will work in every state where the toolbar icon is hidden, so pin or enable the extension if the shortcut does not work. Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a webpage as an image or PDF rather than save it with SingleFile, ScreenshotNeo is a separate website screenshot API; it does not pin or enable Chrome extensions. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot:
