Sikich and Datarails announced a partnership on September 30, 2026, to offer planning, reporting, and financial analysis for organizations in life sciences, insurance, and legal services. The proposed approach is to connect Datarails’ financial planning and analysis (FP&A) platform to existing ERP environments—NetSuite is one example—while leaving those systems of record in place. The announcement describes an intended offering, not a named customer deployment or proven result.
What did Sikich and Datarails announce?
The companies say they will combine Sikich’s industry, technology, and advisory experience with Datarails’ FP&A offering. Their stated audience includes organizations with multi-entity or multi-currency operations, frequent reforecasting needs, and complex financial analysis.
The announcement names life sciences, insurance, and legal services as intended sectors. Sikich describes itself in the release as having approximately 2,500 team members; that is the company’s own figure, not an independently verified measure of the partnership’s reach. Sikich’s September 30, 2026 announcement does not identify a customer, report an implementation, or quantify productivity or other outcomes.
Sikich principal William Tamulynas said the aim is to help organizations evolve planning processes without disrupting systems and workflows their teams rely on. Datarails CEO and co-founder Didi Gurfinkel described FinanceOS as a governed foundation for financial and operational data that lets teams work in Excel while AI uses the same numbers. These are the representatives’ descriptions of the intended approach, not independently measured findings.

How is Datarails meant to work with an ERP?
The proposed division of labor is that an ERP remains the system of record, while Datarails connects financial and operational data to planning and reporting workflows. In practical terms, this targets work such as bringing figures together across entities, refreshing data for analysis, explaining variances, forecasting, comparing scenarios, and preparing management or board reports.
Datarails’ product page describes its FP&A platform as connecting ERP and other business systems to Excel-based models, with functions for consolidation and close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and AI-powered variance commentary. These are vendor-stated capabilities, not evidence that every function is included in this partnership or configured for every customer. Datarails’ FP&A product page lists NetSuite among ERP examples, alongside QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, and SAP.

Datarails says its product connects to more than 600 ERP, accounting, CRM, bank, and HRIS systems, and that more than 2,000 finance teams use it. Both are vendor-published figures on its product page, not independent counts. Neither figure confirms that a particular connector, configuration, or regional setup will work in a prospective customer’s environment.
Can finance teams keep using Excel?
Yes, retaining Excel models is part of the proposed workflow. Datarails presents its platform as working with existing Excel-based models rather than requiring finance teams to abandon spreadsheets. That may matter to teams whose planning processes and reporting templates are already built around Excel, but the announcement does not document a customer migration or show how a particular organization’s workbooks would be handled.

Before evaluating fit, ask which existing models and reports can be connected, how data refreshes are controlled, and whether the required calculations and approval steps are supported. The product description establishes a general Excel-centered approach; it does not establish compatibility with every workbook or process.
What is described about AI access and controls?
Datarails’ support documentation, updated March 18, 2026, says FinanceOS AI interaction uses Model Context Protocol (MCP) and OAuth 2.0 authentication, with permission-based access and audit logging. It describes the AI as having read-only access to financial data: it can query, analyze, and export data, but cannot write back to the account. These are Datarails’ descriptions of its controls, not an independent security audit. Datarails’ FinanceOS AI security and data-access documentation is the relevant reference for the company’s account of those behaviors.

What should a finance team verify before considering it?
- ERP and connectors: Confirm that the exact ERP edition, modules, data sources, and connector configuration are supported for your environment. NetSuite is an example named in the partnership announcement, not proof of universal compatibility.
- Planning complexity: Map requirements for consolidation, multi-entity and multi-currency reporting, reforecast frequency, and scenario analysis to the product functions and services actually proposed for your organization.
- Excel workflow: Review representative workbooks, report templates, refresh requirements, and approval processes rather than assuming every existing spreadsheet transfers unchanged.
- AI permissions and auditability: Ask how user permissions and logs apply to your configuration, and confirm data-write behavior with the vendor. Datarails’ documentation describes read-only AI access, but does not substitute for a review of your own setup and controls.
- Commercial and delivery terms: Request partnership-specific pricing, implementation scope, and a timeline. The announcement does not publish these details.
- Evidence of results: Ask for relevant customer references or documented outcomes. The announcement provides no named deployment or quantified benefit.
What is not established by the announcement?
The September 30, 2026 release is a partnership announcement, not a launch schedule or case study. It does not state pricing, implementation timelines, customer results, specific connector configurations, or quantified productivity improvements. Nor does it establish that Datarails replaces an ERP: the stated positioning is to complement existing systems of record. Organizations should treat the described benefits as the partners’ proposed scope until they can assess a specific implementation and its evidence.
