Short answer: Buy the base or Standard edition if you want only the original campaign. Choose the GOG Anniversary Bundle for the clearest all-in PC package: it explicitly includes Aiko’s Choice, both soundtrack formats, wallpapers, and English and German artbook and strategy-guide files. Choose the PlayStation Ultimate Bundle if you want the broadest cited PlayStation package. Steam is the clearest PC storefront for checking controller compatibility, while GOG is the clearest choice if DRM-free offline play matters.
What you are buying
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a single-player tactical stealth game set in Japan during the Edo period. You control a team of specialists, each with different abilities, and solve missions by selecting infiltration routes, manipulating enemy behavior, and coordinating actions. It is not a conventional action game: success usually comes from planning, timing, concealment, and combining character skills.
The original release scope covered PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Current storefront listings divide the purchase into several forms: a base game, editions that add digital extras, bundles that include the separate Aiko’s Choice adventure, and platform-specific packages. Those names are not interchangeable, so check the exact platform listing before paying.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

The most important distinction is whether Aiko’s Choice is included. It is additional story content, not a cosmetic pack. A Standard or Deluxe label by itself does not prove that the expansion is present.

Steam: the clearest PC listing for input support
What the Standard listing contains
The Steam Standard or base listing is the straightforward purchase of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. Steam separately lists the Official Soundtrack and the Artbook & Strategy Guide, so the base purchase should not be treated as an all-in bundle.
If you want only the original campaign, this is the least complicated PC choice. If you also want Aiko’s Choice, the soundtrack, or the guide, add those products only after confirming that the store is offering them as a bundle or separate purchase in your region.
Why Steam is useful for controller buyers
Steam marks the game as having “Full Controller Support.” Its metadata names Xbox Controllers and USB-only DualShock Controllers. That is stronger and more specific than a generic “controller compatible” badge: it confirms that controller play is an advertised feature and identifies the device categories covered by the listing.
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThe wording does not guarantee identical wireless behavior, button layouts, remapping options, or menus on every Windows configuration. A USB DualShock connection is specifically named; do not convert that statement into a promise of wireless DualShock support. Likewise, the Steam metadata should not be used as proof that every controller feature works identically on console editions.
GOG editions: DRM policy and the Anniversary Bundle
GOG Standard Edition
GOG’s Standard Edition includes the base game and HD wallpapers. GOG states that this version is DRM-free and that no activation or online connection is required to play. That makes it useful for buyers who want an offline-friendly PC copy and do not need the expansion or companion files in the same purchase.
DRM-free does not mean that every optional service or cloud feature is available offline; it means the game itself does not require activation or an online connection according to the product listing. Keep installers and any optional files you want to preserve in your own backup plan.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
GOG Anniversary Bundle
The Anniversary Bundle is the most explicit all-in package among the cited PC listings. It includes:
- Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun;
- Aiko’s Choice;
- the soundtrack in FLAC and MP3 formats;
- HD wallpapers; and
- English and German versions of the artbook and strategy guide.
Choose this bundle when the extras matter as much as the campaign. It avoids the uncertainty of buying the base game and then trying to identify which soundtrack, guide, or expansion listing belongs with it.
PlayStation editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate
PS5 Standard Edition
The official PlayStation listing identifies a PS5 Standard Edition containing the game. It also identifies DualSense vibration support. The page lists PS5 and PS Portal cloud streaming with a Premium subscription. Cloud streaming is a platform service, not a property of the game’s offline installation, and it can depend on your account, subscription, network, and regional availability.
The Standard Edition should be treated as the base campaign unless the purchase page explicitly names additional content. Do not infer that it contains Aiko’s Choice from the fact that other PlayStation bundles include it.
PS4 Game+Theme option
The PlayStation catalog also shows a PS4 Game+Theme option. This is a platform listing that combines the game with a theme; it is not evidence that the soundtrack, guide, or Aiko’s Choice is included.

The PlayStation Deluxe Edition is listed for PS4 and PS5 and includes the game, artbook, and strategy guide. The cited listing does not establish that Aiko’s Choice is part of this edition. If the expansion is important, verify its name in the included-content panel rather than relying on the word “Deluxe.”

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Ultimate Bundle
The PlayStation Ultimate Bundle is the strongest cited PlayStation completionist option. Its listing describes the base game, the Deluxe Edition, Aiko’s Choice, and related soundtrack and artbook/guide content. It is the logical choice for a PlayStation buyer who wants the campaign, expansion, and companion material in one package.
Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 availability
Xbox
The official Xbox page lists the game and identifies a Deluxe Edition. The cited Xbox result does not enumerate every bonus in that edition. If the guide, soundtrack, wallpapers, or Aiko’s Choice affects your decision, open the Xbox listing’s included-content panel before completing the purchase.
Because the Xbox page confirms the edition name but not a complete contents list, an Xbox recommendation should be platform- and listing-specific: buy the Standard or base product for the game itself, and treat Deluxe extras as unconfirmed until the store page names them.
Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo page identified for Switch 2 is for Aiko’s Choice, not for the original Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun base game. Nintendo describes it as another adventure with the original characters, set within the story of the main game.
That listing establishes the availability of Aiko’s Choice on Switch 2, but it does not establish that the base campaign is bundled. Do not buy it expecting the original game unless a separate Nintendo listing explicitly says so.
What exactly is Aiko’s Choice?
Aiko’s Choice is additional narrative content. It is not a soundtrack, skin pack, wallpaper set, or cosmetic upgrade. Nintendo describes it as another adventure with the original characters and places it within the story of the main game.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
On PC, it is explicitly included in the GOG Anniversary Bundle. On PlayStation, it is explicitly included in the Ultimate Bundle. The cited Standard and Deluxe listings do not establish universal inclusion, so a buyer should look for the expansion’s name in the package contents.
If you are purchasing solely to play the original campaign, you can save money and storage by choosing the base edition. If you want the larger story package, the Anniversary Bundle or Ultimate Bundle removes the most ambiguity on the platforms where their contents are explicitly listed.
Artbook, strategy guide, and soundtrack: digital companion content
Artbook and strategy guide
The Artbook & Strategy Guide is a named companion product. Steam lists it separately. GOG’s Anniversary Bundle includes artbook and strategy-guide files in English and German.
The cited storefront information establishes digital files, not a verified physical book. Do not assume that a listing for an artbook and guide means a printed edition, boxed copy, or currently available physical product. If you are looking for a paper book, confirm the format, seller, region, and stock independently before paying.
Official Soundtrack
Steam lists the Official Soundtrack separately. GOG’s Anniversary Bundle includes both FLAC and MP3 versions. FLAC is the higher-fidelity, lossless format; MP3 is the more broadly compatible compressed format. The bundle’s two formats are useful if you want archival-quality files as well as files that play easily on common devices.

Wallpapers
HD wallpapers are included with GOG’s Standard Edition and Anniversary Bundle. The cited PlayStation Ultimate description also refers to related soundtrack and artbook/guide content, but the exact wallpaper treatment is not established there.

Controller support on PC
What Steam officially confirms
- Steam labels the game “Full Controller Support.”
- Xbox Controllers are named in the Steam metadata.
- USB-only DualShock Controllers are named.
For a PC buyer, that means controller play is a supported use case rather than an unsupported workaround. It does not establish that every model, wireless adapter, button prompt, vibration mode, or remapping feature behaves the same way.
Practical setup checklist
- Connect the controller before launching the game. For a DualShock controller, use a USB connection because the cited Steam metadata specifies USB-only support.
- Open the game through the storefront where you purchased it and check whether controller input is detected at the title screen.
- Confirm that movement, camera or cursor control, selection, cancel, and ability commands respond before starting a mission.
- If the game ignores input, close other remapping or virtual-controller utilities, reconnect the device, and relaunch. The storefront metadata confirms support, but it does not guarantee compatibility with every third-party driver stack.
- Use the keyboard and mouse as a fallback while diagnosing a controller issue. Tactical missions remain playable with either input method, but the exact comfort preference is personal.
Console controller features
The PS5 listing states that the PS5 version supports DualSense vibration. This confirms a DualSense feature on PS5. It should not be generalized to identical vibration behavior on PC, PS4, Xbox, or Switch 2, where the cited material does not make the same claim.
Which edition should you buy?
Buy the Standard or base edition when
- You want the original campaign and no companion material.
- You already know you do not need Aiko’s Choice.
- You prefer to add the soundtrack or guide separately only if you later decide they are worthwhile.
Choose GOG Anniversary Bundle when
- You want the base game and Aiko’s Choice together on PC.
- DRM-free delivery and offline play are priorities.
- You want both FLAC and MP3 soundtracks, wallpapers, and the guide files in one clearly described package.
Choose Steam when
- You want PC storefront metadata that explicitly identifies controller support.
- You prefer the flexibility of buying the game and companion products as separately listed items.
- You use an Xbox controller or a USB DualShock controller and want the clearest published compatibility statement.
Choose PlayStation Ultimate Bundle when
- You already play on PS4 or PS5.
- You want the base game, Deluxe content, Aiko’s Choice, and related soundtrack and artbook/guide material together.
- You want PS5-specific DualSense vibration and, where eligible, PS5 or PS Portal cloud streaming.
Inspect Xbox Deluxe before buying when
- You want to stay on Xbox.
- You are considering Deluxe for the guide, soundtrack, or expansion.
- The Xbox store page has an expandable contents panel that can identify the included extras.
Buy the Switch 2 version only for the content named
The cited Nintendo listing is for Aiko’s Choice. Buy it if that is the adventure you want and you have confirmed how the base game is obtained. Do not assume that the original campaign is part of the Switch 2 listing.

- Identify your platform. Decide between PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch 2 before comparing edition names. The same label can have different contents on different storefronts.
- Look for the base game’s full title. Make sure the product is Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, not only Aiko’s Choice.
- Search the contents list for the expansion by name. “Deluxe” does not automatically mean that Aiko’s Choice is included.
- Check companion formats. Confirm whether the artbook and guide are digital files, and whether soundtrack files are FLAC, MP3, or both.
- Check platform features separately. Controller metadata, DualSense vibration, cloud streaming, and DRM policy are platform-specific.
- Confirm region and account requirements. Prices, availability, subscription services, and catalog contents can vary by region and can change over time.
- Review the final purchase summary. The checkout screen should name every included product you expect before you submit payment.
Common buying pitfalls
Assuming every Deluxe Edition includes the expansion
The PlayStation Deluxe Edition is documented as including the game, artbook, and strategy guide, but the cited listing does not establish Aiko’s Choice as part of it. The Xbox Deluxe listing likewise does not enumerate all bonuses in the cited information. Verify the package contents rather than trusting the label.
Confusing the artbook with a physical publication
Storefront references establish digital artbook and strategy-guide files. They do not verify a printed book or current physical stock. Confirm format and seller details if a physical copy is your goal.
Assuming Steam’s controller wording applies everywhere
“Full Controller Support” is Steam metadata. It confirms the advertised Steam experience, including named Xbox and USB-only DualShock support. It is not a universal guarantee for wireless PC setups or every console version.
Buying Switch 2 content expecting the base game
The cited Nintendo page is for Aiko’s Choice. The page describes that adventure but does not establish that it contains the original campaign. Treat the two products as separate unless Nintendo’s listing says otherwise.
Using an old price or sale date
Store prices, discounts, review counts, and sale deadlines change by region and date. Check the live storefront at the time of purchase instead of relying on a remembered price.
