What the association is asking for
News reports say the Serving Schools Association wants the syllabus for Classes 9 and 10 reduced immediately. The association’s stated concern is that school closures have left too little classroom time to complete the full syllabus before annual matriculation examinations.
The association has also reportedly urged authorities to stop unannounced school holidays, arguing that repeated closures disrupt students’ and teachers’ ability to finish the course. Its warning that completing the full syllabus under these conditions could harm exam performance and raise the risk of failures is the association’s position, not an independently measured outcome. TechJuice’s report attributes the account to association president Raza-ur-Rehman.
What is known about the teaching-time figures
TechJuice reports that Raza-ur-Rehman said students had attended classes for only 45 days despite half the academic year having passed. He also estimated that winter vacations, Eid-ul-Fitr and Basant holidays could leave around 60 additional teaching days before the annual matriculation examinations.

Both figures are attributed claims in the news report. The report does not provide independent attendance data or an official calendar calculation, so they should not be treated as verified totals.
Has the syllabus reduction been approved?
No approval is established by the available reporting. ResultOnline’s October 2 report confirms the association’s demand but does not identify an official acceptance, revised syllabus, or change to examinations. At present, the reports do not establish:
- Which authority, if any, has accepted the request.
- Which subjects, chapters or units would be removed.
- When a revision would take effect or which examination session it would cover.
- Whether any board has changed its examination scheme.
What students and schools should do
Do not change a study plan, skip chapters, or buy replacement books on the assumption that the syllabus has already changed. Wait for an official notice from the relevant education authority or examination board, and check that it specifies the class, subject, applicable exam session and any corresponding paper changes.
There are no confirmed old and revised syllabus versions to compare yet. If an official revision is issued, students should use the board’s subject-by-subject document rather than relying on headlines or general claims about a syllabus cut.
