Sentra announced a $50 million Series B on April 22, 2025, led by Key1 Capital. The company said the funding takes its total investment to more than $100 million and will support team growth and platform expansion, including security for cloud and AI workflows. Sentra sells enterprise data-security software—not a consumer product—and its growth and customer figures in the announcement are company-reported.
Who invested and what Sentra says the money will support
Key1 Capital led the round. Existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Zeev Ventures, Standard Investments, and Munich Re Ventures also participated. Sentra said the Series B had closed, but its announcement did not give an independently verified legal closing date. SecurityWeek reported the announcement on April 22, 2025. SecurityWeek’s report and Sentra’s funding announcement provide the contemporaneous accounts.
Sentra said it plans to use the funding to grow its data-security team and expand its platform, with particular attention to risks in cloud and AI workflows. The release also reported revenue growth of more than 300% year over year and the addition of multiple new Fortune 500 customers. Those are company claims; the announcement provides no audit details or customer count.
The release quoted CEO and co-founder Yoav Regev: “AI is only as secure as the data behind it.” Key1 Capital co-founder and managing partner Danny Akerman said in the company release that tighter data regulation and enterprise AI adoption had intensified data-security challenges.

What Sentra’s platform does
Sentra describes its Cloud-Native Data Security Platform as enterprise software for discovering and classifying data, assessing security posture, and supporting detection and response. SecurityWeek reported that the platform scans data in place and maps stores across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and on-premises systems, identifying classification issues and policy or permission risks. Sentra says scanning happens within the customer environment; product descriptions and performance claims from the vendor should be treated as vendor-reported. Sentra’s product description outlines its claims.
Omdia’s 2025 assessment describes Sentra as a SaaS service and recommends it for cloud-centric medium-to-large organizations seeking strong data discovery and classification as the basis for a broader data-security platform. Omdia also describes assessment and remediation capabilities, while noting that Sentra is comparatively small and does not yet cover the full range of data security posture management (DSPM) propositions. That is Omdia’s assessment, not an independent product test conducted for this article. Omdia’s 2025 DSPM report provides its evaluation.

How the announcement connects to AI-agent security
On April 28, 2025, Sentra announced support for AI-agent toolkits including Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock, and OpenAI ChatGPT Enterprise. The company says the capabilities include agent inventory, role-aware access controls, monitoring, remediation recommendations, and visibility into data accessed through AI interactions. These are vendor-announced functions, not independently validated results. Sentra’s AI-agent announcement describes them.
That product direction helps explain why the company framed platform expansion around AI: AI agents and applications can interact with sensitive enterprise information, making data discovery and access context relevant to security teams. Sentra CEO Yoav Regev said organizations must ensure agents are used securely while protecting the privacy and integrity of the data on which they depend. The announcement does not establish how these capabilities perform in customer deployments.

What the funding figures do—and do not—show
- $50 million: the Series B amount announced by Sentra in 2025.
- More than $100 million: Sentra’s stated cumulative investment after the round.
- More than 300% year-over-year revenue growth: Sentra’s reported figure, not presented as audited.
- Multiple Fortune 500 customers: a company-reported addition; no exact number was disclosed.
Sentra’s release also quoted a Gartner forecast that spending on application and data security would see more than 15% incremental growth through 2025. That forecast is attributed to Gartner as relayed by Sentra, rather than verified here against an original Gartner publication. Sentra’s release is the source for the quoted forecast and its other company-reported figures.

A funding announcement does not establish product fit. For organizations evaluating DSPM or related data-security tools, useful comparison points include:
- Coverage: discovery and classification across SaaS, cloud infrastructure, databases, and on-premises systems.
- Data handling: whether scanning is agentless or occurs in place, and how data is processed within the customer environment.
- Security actions: posture assessment, remediation, access governance, and detection or response—not just data inventory.
- AI visibility: whether the product can inventory agents and show which data AI workflows access, along with the available controls.
- Integration: fit with existing cloud, identity, and data-loss-prevention tools.
- Vendor breadth and scale: whether the provider’s size and product coverage meet the organization’s operational and support needs.
Omdia’s assessment supports a focused view of Sentra’s discovery and classification strengths while flagging its comparatively small scale and narrower proposition. Its report is one analyst assessment, not a complete vendor bake-off. An earlier May 2024 Sentra release discussed DataTreks and on-premises file-share and database support; because that material is historical, it should not be taken as confirmation that every integration listed then remains current. The May 2024 release describes those capabilities at the time.
