There is no universal winner. For scheduled and bulk captures, consider ScreenshotAPI.net; for integrations and documented rendering controls, consider ScreenshotOne; and for dedicated rendering or enterprise support, evaluate Urlbox. Those are feature-based fits, not claims that one service is faster or more reliable. Before choosing, test representative pages and compare what you actually need to capture, how each provider counts renders, and what your workflow will cost. If you want a fourth option to try first, ScreenshotNeo combines clean captures, no billing for failed or cached shots, and a free monthly allowance.
At a glance: which screenshot API fits your workflow?
A screenshot API accepts a URL and capture settings over HTTP, renders the page, and returns an image or another output such as a PDF. A managed service operates the browser infrastructure; you still need to verify that its output works for your own pages, settings, and use case.
The table compares the three named services and places ScreenshotNeo first as an additional alternative, not as a fourth service tested against the others. Feature descriptions and prices are vendor-published information checked on September 29, 2026. They are not independent measurements; prices and plan terms can change. Confirm the live terms before subscribing.
| Service | Published starting option | Good reason to evaluate it | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Free: 1,000 shots/month, no card. Paid: $5 for 3,000 shots/month. | Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets can be removed before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. | These are ScreenshotNeo’s stated product and plan facts, not a head-to-head test result. See ScreenshotNeo and its documentation. |
| ScreenshotAPI.net | 7-day trial with 100 screenshots; Essential is listed at $9/month for 1,000, and Startup at $29/month for 10,000. | Its vendor comparison lists scheduled captures using cron and CSV bulk capture, alongside full-page and scrolling capture, PDF, text extraction, and storage routing. | Pricing pages use promotional or struck-through formatting, so confirm the checkout amount. Startup is listed with a 40-requests-per-minute limit; that figure alone does not establish how quickly a particular workload will finish. |
| ScreenshotOne | 100 free screenshots/month; Basic is $17/month for 2,000. | The Basic plan lists formats, full-page capture, PDF, HTML rendering, caching, S3 uploads, webhooks, signed links, and automation integrations. | Some capabilities are plan-dependent. Its quota description excludes failed renders and cached screenshots; a cache miss may trigger a rerender. |
| Urlbox | Lo-Fi is $19/month for up to 2,000 renders; Hi-Fi is $49/month for 5,000. | Evaluate it if you need plan-specific support, dedicated rendering, specialized outputs, or the enterprise options listed by the vendor. | Counts and costs can vary with request duration, file size, archive storage, GPU, and advanced features. Read the plan footnotes before estimating spend. |
The ScreenshotAPI.net, ScreenshotOne, and Urlbox amounts above are vendor plan figures, not neutral market averages. The published starting options are not perfectly equivalent: one may be a trial, another a free quota, and another a paid tier with different limits and entitlements. Compare the terms that apply to your workload rather than sorting only by the first price.

Compare the three services by their strengths
ScreenshotAPI.net: schedules and batch workflows
Consider ScreenshotAPI.net when recurring jobs or bulk URL submission are central to your process. Its vendor comparison describes scheduling with cron and CSV-based bulk capture, as well as full-page and scrolling screenshots, PDF, text extraction, and storage routing. The Startup plan is listed with a 40-requests-per-minute ceiling. Check that the plan’s actual batch, schedule, and rate limits match your peak load, not just your monthly total.
A request-rate ceiling is not a completion-time promise: pages may take different amounts of time to load, and a job’s outcome depends on the URLs and settings. If you rely on schedules, also establish what happens when a capture fails, whether jobs are retried, how results are delivered, and whether the schedule is included in the plan you intend to buy.
ScreenshotOne: integrations and plan-dependent controls
ScreenshotOne is worth evaluating when its listed integrations, signed links, storage options, or higher-tier rendering capabilities suit your application. Its Basic plan advertises a 100-shot monthly free allowance and includes several outputs and workflow features; the vendor lists IP location selection, scrolling screenshots, and video generation on Growth, and GPU rendering and prioritized support on Scale. Verify the specific entitlement you need against the plan page, rather than assuming a feature listed somewhere on the site is included in every tier.

The vendor says failed renders and cached screenshots do not count toward the quota, while noting that a cache miss can result in a rerender. For a workload where retries or cache behavior affect cost, test the request patterns you expect and record how each response is counted.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesUrlbox: enterprise posture and specialized requirements
Urlbox’s pricing page describes tier-specific request limits, render timeouts, output types, integrations, support, and SLA options. Business lists a 99.95% uptime SLA and Enterprise a 99.99% SLA; these are vendor-stated commitments, not independent uptime measurements. The Enterprise tier is listed as starting at $3,000/month and includes dedicated rendering clusters and enhanced SLAs.
Plan fit matters: the vendor describes Lo-Fi as intended for screenshots of sites the customer owns and for thumbnails, while higher tiers add broader third-party capture and privacy options. Business is listed at $498/month plus $3 per 1,000 renders after a $495 base. Because the vendor says render counts can depend on request duration, file size, archive storage, GPU, and advanced features, check the footnotes and contract terms before using the headline allowance to forecast total cost.

Choose on the requirements that affect your implementation
Write down the capture cases you actually need before comparing feature lists. A listed feature does not prove that a specific target URL will render correctly, or that it is available on the plan you are considering.
| Decision axis | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| Volume and burst rate | How many captures do you expect each month? How many can arrive at once? What is the listed request-rate limit, and what happens at that limit? |
| Page behavior | Do pages use JavaScript, lazy-loaded images, long scrolling layouts, consent banners, or authentication? Which waits or interactions are required? |
| Workflow | Do you need a provider’s built-in schedule or bulk submission, or will your own scheduler and job queue handle orchestration? |
| Rendering controls | Do you need a particular device or viewport, wait condition, header, cookie, script, stylesheet, geolocation, or proxy behavior? |
| Output and delivery | Will an image suffice, or do you need PDF, video, extracted data, storage, webhooks, or signed links? Which formats and delivery methods are included on the intended plan? |
| Quota, support, and risk | What counts as billable? How are failures, cache hits, retries, and overages handled? Do you require a stated support level, SLA, security control, or archive option? |
For example, a team capturing its own pages on a repeating schedule should first validate schedule and batch behavior, then test its busiest capture window. A product generating previews from user-submitted URLs should pay particular attention to allowed targets, authentication and privacy needs, failure accounting, and output delivery. These are different workloads; a low entry price does not settle either decision.
Run a fair evaluation before migrating
- Build a representative URL set. Include ordinary pages, long pages, dynamic pages, pages with lazy-loaded content, authenticated pages you are authorized to capture, and pages with consent banners. Use URLs that reflect the real mix, not just a landing page.
- Hold settings constant. Match viewport or device, output format, full-page behavior, wait condition, and any necessary cookies or headers. Record differences you cannot make equivalent because a control is absent or plan-dependent.
- Inspect the artifacts. Check whether the intended content appeared, whether the image is complete, and whether banners or overlays obscure it. For PDFs or other outputs, inspect those outputs separately rather than inferring their behavior from a screenshot.
- Record operational outcomes. Track successful captures, failures, latency, cache behavior, response handling, and the cost counted by each provider under the test settings. The reviewed vendor materials do not establish a neutral speed, image-quality, or reliability winner.
- Validate production constraints. Check monthly allowance, bursts, scheduling, retries, API limits, data handling, support terms, and the plan-specific features your rollout depends on. Reconfirm pricing and terms at purchase.
This process makes a comparison useful for your application without treating vendor feature lists as proof of equivalent behavior. It also helps reveal when the deciding factor is not rendering but orchestration, billing policy, or delivery.

Costs, performance, and reliability: what the published figures do and do not tell you
Prices checked September 29, 2026, are useful for shortlisting, but they are not directly comparable until you normalize what a “screenshot,” “render,” or quota unit means for your settings. Urlbox explicitly notes factors that may change render counts; ScreenshotOne’s quota description treats failures and cached shots differently from a simple request counter; ScreenshotAPI.net’s listed tier and promotional display warrant checkout verification. Add expected retries, advanced features, and overages only after confirming how the relevant plan bills them.
None of the listed request ceilings, price points, or vendor feature descriptions is an independent performance benchmark. The available information does not establish which service captures a shared test page fastest, produces the most faithful image, or has the best measured uptime. Urlbox’s SLA figures are contractual vendor statements, not an uptime study. Evaluate your own difficult pages under consistent settings and consult the terms for remedies and exclusions before relying on an SLA.
Common uses for managed screenshot APIs include website previews, visual monitoring, archiving, reports, Open Graph images, QA snapshots, AI workflows, and automated content generation. For monitoring or records, decide whether a screenshot alone is sufficient: the capture settings, timestamping, retention, retry policy, and storage arrangement may be as important as the returned pixels.

First alternative to try: ScreenshotNeo
For developers who want a fourth option, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture, and only clean shots are billed. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. A single GET request can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. The response identifies page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
Here is a cURL request for a WebP capture:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request parameters. The equivalent Python and Node.js patterns are:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
The API also offers full-page capture with lazy images loaded, element capture by CSS selector, dark mode, 12 device presets plus custom viewports, retina scale, PDF settings, HTML/CSS-to-image, custom CSS and JavaScript, pre-capture clicks, hidden selectors, wait conditions, request blocking, custom headers and cookies, user agents and Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, TTL caching, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. ScreenshotAPI-style parameter names are also accepted to make switching easier.
Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. Its stated plans are Free: 1,000 shots/month with no card; Starter: $5 for 3,000; Growth: $15 for 15,000; Pro: $39 for 60,000; Scale: $99 for 250,000; and Business: $249 for 1,000,000. Yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is on every plan. Treat those as ScreenshotNeo’s published plan facts, not as a tested total-cost comparison with the three vendors above.
With ScreenshotNeo, cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for the free plan.
What to choose
Start with the workflow constraint that would be hardest to replace: scheduled and CSV bulk jobs point toward evaluating ScreenshotAPI.net; ScreenshotOne is a candidate when its integrations, signed links, storage, or plan-specific rendering options line up; and Urlbox merits evaluation when its enterprise support posture, dedicated clusters, or specialized plan options match a concrete requirement. Try ScreenshotNeo first if clean screenshots, explicit billing verdicts, an MCP server, or its free allowance are a priority. None of these recommendations establishes superior rendering or reliability; let a representative test set and the live plan terms make the final decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change screenshot providers without rewriting every capture request?
It depends on how closely the providers’ request parameters, response formats, and error handling match your integration. ScreenshotNeo says it accepts parameter names used by other screenshot APIs, which may make switching easier; still test outputs and billing behavior before changing production traffic.
Is an SLA the same as proof of observed uptime?
No. An SLA is a vendor-stated service commitment with terms and possible remedies; it is not an independent measurement of historical uptime. Review the applicable agreement and its exclusions if uptime is a purchasing requirement.
