To compare screenshot API costs per page, divide each plan’s monthly price by its included capture quota—but treat that as an allowance rate, not the price you will necessarily pay for each usable image. Providers differ in what counts as a capture, whether failures or cached results use quota, and whether complex pages consume multiple credits. Compare plans against the same workload and capture settings, then estimate the monthly bill using each provider’s rules.

What does “cost per screenshot” actually mean?

The simplest figure is the included-quota rate: monthly plan price divided by the number of captures included. For a $17 plan with 2,000 included captures, that is $17 ÷ 2,000 = $0.0085 per included capture.

This number describes the plan allowance spread evenly across its quota. It is not necessarily the marginal price of an additional screenshot, nor a guarantee that every API request produces one billable image. A provider may count only successful, uncached renders; another may count weighted render credits when a capture uses advanced features or takes longer. The useful comparison is therefore a pair of figures: the included-quota rate and the expected bill for your actual monthly workload.

Illustrative monthly plan rates

The following USD prices and quotas were shown on the providers’ official pricing pages checked on October 3, 2026. They are simple price-to-quota divisions, not independently audited usage data; plans and pricing can change. The providers’ units and capabilities are not necessarily equivalent.

ScreenshotOne Basic $17 for 2,000 screenshots $0.0085 ScreenshotOne says failed screenshots and eligible cached screenshots do not count against quota; only successful, non-cached renders count, subject to its cache behavior and rules. ScreenshotOne pricing
ScreenshotOne Growth $79 for 10,000 screenshots $0.0079 Extra screenshots are listed at $0.006 each. ScreenshotOne pricing
ScreenshotOne Scale $259 for 50,000 screenshots About $0.00518 Extra screenshots are listed at $0.004 each. ScreenshotOne pricing
Urlbox Lo-Fi $19 for up to 2,000 renders $0.0095 Simple division does not account for plan capability or render multipliers. Urlbox pricing
Urlbox Hi-Fi $49 for up to 5,000 renders $0.0098 Urlbox labels this plan suitable for most use cases; that description does not establish equivalence with other providers’ plans. Urlbox pricing
Urlbox Ultra $99 for up to 15,000 renders About $0.0066 Simple division does not account for plan capability or render multipliers. Urlbox pricing
Urlbox Business $498 monthly: $495 base plus $3 per 1,000 renders; plan table shows 1,000 base renders Not directly comparable by dividing the full price by the base quota Model this plan using its stated base and usage charge rather than treating it like a fixed large quota. Urlbox pricing

For context, ScreenshotOne lists a free tier with 100 screenshots per month. That is a quota, not evidence that all capture configurations or operational needs are covered at no cost. See ScreenshotOne’s current pricing.

Why the lowest division may not mean the lowest bill

Capture units can represent different things

Check whether the quota counts API requests, successful renders, unique uncached outputs, or weighted credits. A failed request can be free under one plan and consume quota under another. If your workload repeatedly requests the same page, caching rules also affect the number of billable renders.

Some captures can use multiple credits

Urlbox documents render use that can scale with request duration—one render per 30-second period—and file size—one per 5 MB. GPU acceleration uses twice the renders, advanced features can add render use, and certified archive storage uses an additional render per year of storage. Confirm the current implementation and how the precise options you use affect credits before estimating costs. Urlbox’s pricing page

Plan features and capture fidelity differ

A quota comparison does not establish that two plans produce equivalent captures or include the same options. Compare the output format, full-page behavior, capture controls, reliability requirements, integrations, and storage needs that matter to your job. The listed prices alone do not establish which service performs better.

Throughput can limit usable quota

A plan’s monthly allowance does not tell you how quickly requests can be submitted. Record each plan’s request-per-minute limit and compare it with your peak schedule. If a workload must finish in a fixed window, a cheaper quota may not satisfy it even when its monthly total is sufficient.

Estimate the bill for your workload

  1. Define one representative capture. Record the target page type, full-page or viewport capture, output format, viewport or device, expected file size and duration, and any advanced options or storage.
  2. Count monthly work. Estimate total requests, expected successful outputs, repeated URLs, and peak requests per minute separately. This distinction matters when failures and cache hits have different quota treatment.
  3. Translate requests into billable units. Apply the provider’s documented rules for failures, cached results, long renders, file size, GPU use, advanced features, and storage. Do not assume every request equals one credit.
  4. Calculate both rates and bills. Divide the plan price by included quota for a quick allowance rate. Then apply the plan’s overage or weighted-credit rules to the billable units in your workload to estimate the monthly charge.
  5. Verify the operational fit. Check hard limits, overage rates, throughput, required capture features, output formats, and integrations before choosing based on price.

For example, ScreenshotOne Basic’s listed $17 price divided by 2,000 included screenshots yields $0.0085 per included screenshot. If the workload exceeds the quota, the listed $0.009 extra-screenshot rate becomes relevant; Growth and Scale list different included allowances and extra rates. Those figures should be applied only after accounting for ScreenshotOne’s stated failure and cache rules, and after confirming current terms on its pricing page. Official ScreenshotOne pricing.

Keep bulk scheduled capture separate

Bulk scheduled page capture can have a different quota and retention model from an on-demand screenshot API. Urlbox presents Capturedeck as a separate scheduled-capture offering, listing Solo at $29 for up to 1,000 captures, Basic at $49 for 3,000, Standard at $99 for 10,000, and Pro at $299 for 50,000 per month. Its page warns that advanced capture scenarios can consume more credits than a typical full-page capture. Compare these plans on their own terms rather than treating them as directly interchangeable with per-request API plans. Urlbox Capturedeck.

Item to record Why it affects the comparison
Monthly price and billing interval Establishes the recurring base cost being compared.
Included captures and unit definition Shows whether the allowance represents requests, successful renders, uncached outputs, or weighted credits.
Overage price and hard limit Determines the bill above quota and whether excess use is allowed.
Failure and cache behavior Changes how many attempted requests become billable units.
Advanced-capture credit rules Can make a complex or long-running capture consume more than one unit.
Request-per-minute limit Shows whether the service can complete the workload on schedule.
Required formats, full-page capture, storage, and integrations Prevents comparing a low-priced plan that lacks a necessary capability with a plan that provides it.
Included-quota rate and expected monthly bill Separates an easy headline calculation from the amount your specific workload is likely to cost.

ScreenshotNeo as an alternative to compare

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It is worth placing first in a shortlist because it removes known cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a $5 paid plan for 3,000 shots. Its responses identify page verdict and billing status, so teams can inspect whether a result was a clean shot, a bot check, blank page, failed load, or cache hit. Confirm the current plan terms and whether its capture options fit your workload.

Or skip the browser setup

One GET request can return an image or PDF; this cURL example saves a WebP capture. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response details.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and the Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, while paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Frequently Asked Questions

Are the listed per-screenshot rates the amount I will always pay?

No. They divide a plan price by its included quota. Actual cost depends on your billable units, overage rules, cache and failure treatment, and any render multipliers.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I compare ScreenshotOne’s screenshot quota directly with Urlbox’s render quota?

Only as a rough allowance comparison. Their units, plan capabilities, and usage rules differ, so a like-for-like estimate requires applying each provider’s rules to the same capture workload.
