If you are choosing a full-page screenshot API, start by matching its scroll and lazy-load behavior to the pages you actually capture. ScreenshotOne is a useful reference point; Browserless, Urlbox, ScreenshotAPI.net, and ScreenshotNeo are alternatives to evaluate. There is no standardized independent benchmark here that establishes one provider as universally faster, more reliable, or cheaper, so test the same representative URLs before moving production traffic.
Screenshot API alternatives to evaluate first
| Provider | What its published information establishes | Best reason to shortlist it |
|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Screenshot API and MCP server. It removes known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; its response identifies page verdict and billing status. Its listed plans start with 1,000 free screenshots per month and paid plans from $5 for 3,000. | Try it first if you want clean captures, billing visibility for failed or unsuitable pages, and an API or MCP workflow. |
| ScreenshotOne | Documents full-page capture approaches including browser full-page rendering and a section-by-section method, with scroll and delay controls. | Keep it as your baseline if its options already fit your workload; compare alternatives against the same pages and output requirements. |
| Browserless | Provides a POST screenshot endpoint with Puppeteer-style options, including full-page capture and scrolling for lazy-loaded content. Its documentation also describes HTML input, selector capture, script and style injection, waits, navigation options, and request blocking. | Shortlist it when a hosted browser with broader rendering and page-control options is useful alongside screenshots. |
| Urlbox | Official API documentation and a pricing page are available. The reviewed material does not establish a specific plan price or feature availability by tier. | Compare its current documented options and plan details against your required workflow. |
| ScreenshotAPI.net | Its product page advertises full-page capture and other rendering capabilities. Those are vendor claims; verify availability and limits for the plan you would use. | Include it as another screenshot-focused API candidate when its current options match your needs. |
ShotAPI may appear in searches as a ScreenshotOne-compatible option, but its site could not be verified in the material reviewed for this comparison. Treat it as a lead to check directly, not as an established compatibility or pricing choice.
Why full-page screenshots differ between APIs
Scrolling, expansion, and stitching are not interchangeable
A full-page option does not guarantee identical rendering. ScreenshotOne documents a default browser full-page approach and a by_sections approach that scrolls through viewport-sized sections and joins them. Its guide notes that the section approach can help with some complex or animated pages, but a scroll that is too fast may fail to trigger content. Smaller sections may trigger more lazy loading but require more scrolling and time. See its full-page guide and options documentation.
Browserless documents fullPage: true and a separate scrollPage: true option for pages whose lazy-loaded items appear only after scrolling into view. These controls address different parts of the problem: extending the captured area does not necessarily make the page load content that only appears after a scroll.

Page state and responsive layout matter
Viewport width changes responsive layout, so compare providers at the same width. Also decide what “complete” means for your application: a page with below-the-fold images, sticky navigation, animation, an authenticated state, or infinite scrolling may need different waits or interactions. Infinite pages may never reach a stable end; choose an application-specific stopping condition rather than assuming a full-page flag captures an unbounded feed.
How to compare providers before migrating
- Build a representative URL set. Include long pages, below-the-fold lazy images, sticky or fixed elements, animation, and the interaction or authentication state your app needs.
- Hold inputs constant. Use the same URL, viewport width, output format, and definition of “ready” for each API. Match cookies, headers, and user-agent requirements where applicable.
- Check the captured content. Confirm that the page is complete, that lazy content appeared, and that fixed elements or animations did not produce unacceptable seams or duplicates.
- Repeat the captures. Record whether results are repeatable, along with dimensions, response format, latency, errors, and retries. A single successful image does not establish reliability.
- Record configuration and operational fit. Note how much setup is needed, whether the workflow is synchronous or asynchronous, the API style and migration work, and the available controls for selectors, waits, interactions, and request blocking.
- Check security and economics. Verify current quotas, feature gates, geography, data handling, and retention with each vendor. Calculate total cost at your expected volume from current plan pages; do not infer that one service is cheaper from a headline price alone.
This is an evaluation protocol, not a published benchmark. No provider in this comparison has been tested head-to-head, so latency, fidelity, and reliability should be established on your own target pages.
ScreenshotOne: what to test if you keep it or replace it
ScreenshotOne enables full-page capture with full_page=true; its documentation says scrolling is enabled by default to help load lazy images. Its guide describes the alternative by_sections algorithm, which captures successive sections and combines them. For difficult pages, test scroll distance and delay, allow additional render time, and consider reducing animation. These are documented tuning suggestions, not evidence that ScreenshotOne will outperform another provider on your pages.
Viewport width is especially important when comparing outputs: a different width can change the page layout, making an apparent capture difference a responsive-design difference instead. Consult the provider’s full-page options and guide when mapping your current parameters to an alternative.

When Browserless may fit better
Browserless is worth evaluating when screenshots are one part of a hosted-browser workflow. Its documented REST screenshot endpoint accepts a POST request and supports Puppeteer-style settings such as fullPage: true, as well as scrollPage: true for lazy-loaded content. Its documentation also covers HTML input, selecting or clipping an element, injecting scripts and styles, waits, navigation settings, and rejecting requests. See the Browserless screenshot API documentation.
Automation defenses can change what the browser receives: Browserless warns captures may show blank pages, CAPTCHA screens, access-denied responses, or incomplete content when a target blocks automation. Its documentation points to a separate unblock API, but that does not establish that it will work for every site or that bypassing restrictions is appropriate. Treat a blocked response as a site-access and policy issue, not simply a screenshot-format error.
Urlbox and ScreenshotAPI.net: verify current details
Urlbox has official API documentation and a pricing page. The available reviewed information does not establish specific prices or which features are included at each tier, so check those pages directly before estimating a migration.

Images below the fold are missing
Likely cause: the page loads images only after scrolling, while the capture process only expands the viewport or does not scroll far enough. Try the provider’s documented scroll behavior, such as ScreenshotOne’s scroll settings or Browserless’s scrollPage: true, and allow enough delay for content to load.

Sections are blank or stitched awkwardly
Likely cause: a page is still rendering, an animation is mid-frame, or section scrolling is too fast. Test longer waits, adjust scroll distance and delay, and compare a non-animated state if the site offers one. For ScreenshotOne, the by_sections method may be worth testing on complex pages, but it is not a universal fix.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The capture shows a CAPTCHA, access-denied page, or blank result
Likely cause: the target site is blocking automated browsing. Confirm the returned page content and provider error details before treating it as a rendering bug. Respect the site’s access restrictions and applicable terms; do not assume an unblock feature will solve every case.
The output does not match another provider
First normalize viewport width, cookies, headers, user agent, wait condition, and format. Then compare the actual page content and dimensions. Different responsive layouts or page states can look like API fidelity differences.

Captures time out or vary from run to run
Check whether the site is slow, whether a network-idle condition can occur on that page, and whether the chosen ready condition waits too long or too little. Record repeated runs and retries; a single latency figure is not a dependable service comparison.
Choosing a shortlist by workload
- Want a clean image without common consent and chat clutter: try ScreenshotNeo first, then verify that its cleanup and output behavior suit your pages.
- Already depend on ScreenshotOne’s detailed full-page controls: use its current output as the baseline and test the section and scroll settings against alternatives.
- Need broader browser automation controls: evaluate Browserless for its documented HTML, selector, injection, wait, navigation, and request-blocking options.
- Want another screenshot-first service in the comparison: assess Urlbox and ScreenshotAPI.net directly, checking current documentation and plan details.
Make the decision from repeated captures of your own pages and a current cost calculation. The available documentation establishes useful features, not a standardized ranking of speed, fidelity, reliability, or value.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a full-page option automatically load every lazy-loaded image?
No. A provider may need to scroll the page to trigger lazy loading; verify the resulting image rather than relying on the option name alone.
Can these services capture an infinite-scroll page in full?
Not necessarily. An unbounded feed needs an explicit stopping condition, such as a defined scroll limit or application-specific point.
