Samsung’s smart glasses appear closer to release. Android Authority reported on September 30, 2026, that two Samsung intelligent-eyewear families had appeared in FCC filings, while The Korea Herald reported on October 1 that a Samsung official confirmed a November 2026 launch. Neither report establishes an exact day, retail price, or complete market-by-market availability.
When will Samsung’s smart glasses launch?
Samsung has reportedly confirmed November 2026 as the launch month. The Korea Herald attributed that timing to an unnamed Samsung official. Samsung’s own May announcement had only said the first collections were planned for fall in select markets.
The FCC filings are a separate regulatory signal, not a launch announcement. Android Authority reported model SM-O200J and SM-O200P, plus five additional J-family variants (SM-O201J through SM-O205J) and four additional P-family variants (SM-O201P through SM-O204P). The report inferred that the J and P families may correspond to Samsung’s Gentle Monster and Warby Parker designs, but Samsung has not publicly confirmed that letter-to-brand assignment.
How much will Samsung’s smart glasses cost?
Samsung has not announced pricing. The Korea Herald specifically reported that the price had not been disclosed, so any current dollar or regional estimate would be speculation. Availability is also expected to vary by market, consistent with Samsung’s warning that product information and feature availability can change by country.

What are Samsung’s smart glasses called?
Samsung’s official product name is Intelligent Eyewear. Samsung and Google first showed two styles at Google I/O on May 19, 2026, developed with eyewear companies Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Samsung presented the eyewear again at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22.
Samsung has described lightweight frames with multiple styles, colors, and lens options. Those announcements do not confirm which prescription options will be sold in each market.
Do Samsung’s smart glasses have a display?
The first version is described by The Korea Herald as display-less. It uses cameras and microphones to capture input, sends Gemini processing through a connected Galaxy phone, and delivers responses through speakers in the glasses. Samsung’s cited announcements do not describe an in-lens visual display.

This makes the product an audio-and-camera companion rather than a phone replacement or an augmented-reality visor. James Choi, Samsung’s executive vice president and head of the XR R&D team, said the goal is to help people use their phones less while getting more value from the mobile experiences they already rely on.

According to The Korea Herald’s account of the first version, yes: Gemini processing relies on a connected Galaxy phone. Samsung has not published the exact required phone models, Android versions, regional restrictions, or a complete compatibility matrix in the cited material. The glasses should therefore not be treated as fully standalone until Samsung publishes retail specifications.
What can Samsung Intelligent Eyewear do?
Samsung’s May and July announcements describe the following capabilities. They are announced functions, not guarantees that every feature will work in every country, language, app, or phone configuration.

Battery life, comfort and durability claims
Samsung claims up to nine hours of use on a single charge and more than seven additional full charges from the case. In a July 31 interview, James Choi characterized the nine-hour figure as “up to nine hours of active use,” including demanding Gemini and video-recording scenarios. These are manufacturer claims, not independent battery-test results, and actual runtime will depend on recording, connectivity, assistant use, temperature and other conditions.
Samsung says it engineered the hinge, frame, fit, materials, thermal management and battery efficiency around everyday wear. It also says it tested exposure to heat, humidity, sunscreen, cosmetics and sweat, along with repeated hinge movement. Those statements describe Samsung’s own testing rather than independent validation.

Choi also said Samsung had filed “around 200 patent applications in this category.” That is an executive statement about applications; it does not mean the patents have been granted or that all concern this retail product.

Privacy: what happens when the camera records?
The Korea Herald reports that Samsung says LEDs inside and outside the frame indicate recording and that the camera shuts off if the external indicator is covered. These controls may make recording more visible, but they cannot eliminate privacy concerns. People nearby may not know what is being captured, and local law, venue rules and social etiquette can impose additional obligations. Korean authorities have discussed alerts and safer-use guidance for camera-equipped wearables, but the cited material does not establish a single legal rule for every market.

Counterpoint Research figures reported by The Korea Herald indicate that global AI-glasses shipments grew 263% year over year in the first half of 2026. Display-less models represented 96% of those shipments, and Meta held 94% of the display-less segment. These figures describe the wider market, not Samsung sales or a forecast for Samsung’s launch.
Samsung therefore enters a category in which Meta already has an established line. A useful comparison once Samsung publishes retail specifications should cover:

What Samsung is—and is not—promising
Samsung is positioning Intelligent Eyewear as a hands-free extension of the Galaxy ecosystem, built on Android XR and integrated with Gemini. Google’s Shahram Izadi described intelligent eyewear as a step toward making AI more helpful and accessible in everyday life. Samsung’s own stated objective, however, is complementary: Choi said the company is not trying to replace the mobile phone.
For now, the strongest evidence is the combination of FCC filings and an attributed November launch report. The product’s role, partner brands and announced feature direction are clear; its price, exact availability and final technical specifications are not.
