Neither Samsung nor LG is the better-value choice in every case. Value depends on the specific models at the same screen size, their current prices, your room and seating, and which picture, gaming, and smart-TV features you will use. Compare a particular Samsung and LG pair—not brand names alone—before deciding.
How to make a fair Samsung–LG comparison
Start with two models of the same screen size and similar product tier. Check the price from the retailer you plan to use, along with delivery and return terms. A manufacturer’s live price is only a snapshot; it does not show that one brand is cheaper when the models, sizes, or tiers differ.
For example, LG’s US catalogue listed a 65-inch B6 at $1,399.99 and a 55-inch C6 at $1,499.99 when inspected. Those are manufacturer-listing prices for different sizes and model tiers—not a like-for-like comparison with Samsung, and promotions may change them. Check LG’s US TV catalogue for current listings.
What the brands’ lineups tell you—and what they don’t
Samsung and LG both sell televisions across multiple display categories, so a brand-level comparison can conceal large differences between individual models. Samsung’s Canadian 2026 guide lists Micro RGB, OLED, Neo QLED, Mini LED, Crystal UHD, and The Frame, positioning them for different uses. Those family names and availability are specific to the Canadian guide; model numbers and products can vary by market. See Samsung Canada’s TV guide.

Samsung Electronics America also announced refreshed 2026 Neo QLED 4K and Mini LED series. Its Head of Home Entertainment, Shane Higby, described them as “incredible value for shoppers at every price point.” That is Samsung’s own characterization, not an independent finding that the televisions are better value than LG’s. Which differences matter most to your household?
Room brightness and reflections
RTINGS’ broad brand comparison says Samsung televisions generally perform better than average LG LED-backlit models for brightness and contrast. This is a brand-level tendency, not a guarantee for an individual model or a controlled, matched comparison of every 2026 television. In a bright room, look up measurements for the exact pair you are considering, including brightness and reflection handling. RTINGS’ TV comparison tool.
Seating position and viewing angles
RTINGS says LG televisions generally have wider viewing angles. That tendency may matter if people often watch from seats to the side of the screen, but the result can vary by model. Compare the specific televisions rather than assuming every LG will outperform every Samsung on this point. Compare specific TVs with RTINGS.

Display category and picture priorities
Choose the display category and exact model before drawing conclusions from labels such as OLED, Mini LED, or QLED. These labels do not mean identical performance across brands or models. Decide what matters to you—such as brightness, contrast, or viewing from off-center seats—and compare the models that fit those priorities.
Gaming
Match the TV to the console or PC you use. For each exact model, check its refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 inputs, variable refresh support, and input lag. Samsung’s Canadian guide identifies gaming-oriented uses in its lineup, but that does not independently establish a Samsung advantage in a matched gaming comparison. Samsung Canada’s lineup guide.

Smart features and connectivity
List the streaming apps, interface, remote-control features, and device connections your household relies on, then verify they are supported on the model and in your region. RTINGS’ broad comparison favors LG’s smart features overall, but support can vary by model and market. Check model-level differences.
Stand, wall mount, and installation
Before ordering accessories, check the exact SKU’s included stand or mount and confirm that any wall mount you buy is compatible. LG’s catalogue identifies supplied flush wall mounts on some G6 models; do not assume that applies to every LG television. Check the specific LG product listing.

A practical checklist before you buy
- Choose your size and budget. Set the screen size you need and the amount you are willing to spend.
- Select a comparable pair. Compare a Samsung and an LG at the same size and in a similar display category or tier.
- Check today’s actual buying terms. Compare retailer prices, delivery charges, return terms, and current availability in your market.
- Match the TVs to your room. Check exact-model brightness and reflection handling for bright rooms, and viewing-angle behavior for off-center seating.
- Verify gaming and smart-TV requirements. Confirm the ports, refresh and variable-refresh support, input lag, apps, and device connections you need.
- Confirm installation details. Check what comes in the box and verify wall-mount compatibility before buying a separate mount.
What independent comparisons can establish
RTINGS’ review index stated that it had bought and tested 553 TVs when accessed in 2026. That is the size of its reviewed-TV catalogue, not a statistic showing that either Samsung or LG offers better value. See RTINGS’ TV review index. The sources here do not establish a current, market-wide, like-for-like Samsung-versus-LG retail-price winner. The useful conclusion comes from checking the exact models and prices available to you.
