Sleep mode is a bedtime-focused Galaxy mode that can combine Do not disturb with other phone changes; Do not disturb is the control for silencing interruptions. Use Do not disturb by itself when you only want to quiet alerts, or use Sleep mode to build a broader bedtime setup. Available options and menu names vary by Galaxy model, software version, and market.
What’s the difference between Sleep mode and Do not disturb on Samsung?

Samsung describes Do not disturb as an interruption control. Sleep mode is configured through Digital Wellbeing and can bundle that control with additional actions. A custom mode can also include Do not disturb. Samsung’s Modes and Routines guide and Digital Wellbeing guide describe these options; availability depends on the device and software.
Which one should you use?
- For a meeting or focus session: Start with Do not disturb. Set exceptions for the people, apps, or sounds you still want to allow.
- For a recurring bedtime setup: Use Sleep mode if you want to combine notification control with display, sound, or other available settings.
- To silence the phone without changing other settings: Use Do not disturb on its own.
- To allow selected calls, messages, apps, or alarms: Configure Do not disturb’s allowed exceptions, including when it is activated through Sleep mode.
The best choice depends on whether you need interruption control alone or a bundle of bedtime settings.
Does Sleep mode turn on Do not disturb?
It can. Samsung’s Sleep mode setup includes focus-related controls for enabling Do not disturb, and Do not disturb is also an action that can be added to a custom mode. Check the Sleep mode or mode settings on your phone to confirm whether it is enabled; do not assume every Sleep mode configuration includes it.

Will my alarm still go off in Do not disturb?
Do not disturb has configurable exceptions for alarms and sounds. Review the settings on your phone rather than assuming an alarm will always sound or always be silenced. Samsung’s US guides cover alarm and sound exceptions in notification settings and Do not disturb settings.
Can I let favorite contacts call me while Do not disturb is on?
You can configure allowed calls and messages in Do not disturb. Choose the permitted people or caller categories available on your device, then check the selected option rather than relying on “favorite” status alone. The exact choices can vary by software version.

How do I schedule Do not disturb at night on a Galaxy phone?
- Open Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb. On some devices, you can also open the setting from Quick Settings or search Settings for “Do not disturb.”
- Open the schedule controls and add or select a recurring schedule for the hours you want. Samsung notes that menu labels and schedule options may differ by device.
- Review permitted calls and messages, app notifications, alarms, and sounds before relying on the schedule.
- Save or enable the schedule, then check that it appears as active for the intended times.

How do I set up Sleep mode?
- Open Settings and search for Sleep mode, or look for it under Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.
- Choose the bedtime schedule or activation method available on your phone.
- Review the optional actions—such as Do not disturb or display and sound adjustments—and enable only those you want.
- Check the resulting settings and schedule on the device before relying on them overnight.

Why don’t I see Sleep mode in Settings?
Samsung warns that feature availability, names, paths, and layouts can depend on the model, software version, app, and market. Search Settings for “Sleep mode” or “Do not disturb”; if the feature still is not listed, consult support for your specific Galaxy model and region. Samsung’s Hong Kong support guide also notes device and software variation; its guidance is market-specific.
