The Galaxy S26 Ultra did not arrive with the rumored variable-aperture main camera: a 2026 retailer specification sheet lists its 200MP main camera at a single f/1.4 aperture and four rear cameras in total. Samsung’s interim report confirms the phone was released in March 2026, but does not verify the camera specifications. The variable-aperture and camera-removal claims were earlier leaks, not Samsung announcements.
What the S26 Ultra camera rumor claimed
On March 12, 2025, tipster Ice Universe posted that variable aperture might come to the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s main camera. Android Central reported the claim on March 14 and noted that the proposed aperture range was not known at that point. Android Central’s March 2025 report attributes the claim to the tipster; it is not a Samsung specification.
A separate report on March 25, 2025 described a more specific alleged range: f/1.4 to f/4.0. The same leak proposed replacing a 10MP 3x camera with a 50MP 3.5x camera and adding an 8x telephoto. These were also tipster-derived predictions, not confirmed product details. Android Central’s later leak report describes that configuration.
What the released S26 Ultra is listed with
Samsung’s 2026 1Q Interim Report lists the Galaxy S26 Ultra as released in March 2026. It confirms the model and timing, but the cited report passage does not specify the camera hardware.

A 2026 specification sheet hosted by Nebraska Furniture Mart lists four rear cameras and one front camera. Its rear-camera apertures are listed individually, not as a range:
| Camera | Listed resolution | Listed aperture |
|---|---|---|
| Rear wide | 200MP | f/1.4 |
| Rear ultra-wide | 50MP | f/1.9 |
| Rear telephoto | 50MP | f/2.9 |
| Rear telephoto | 10MP | f/2.4 |
| Front | 12MP | f/2.2 |
The figures come from the retailer’s 2026 product specification sheet, so they are secondary specifications rather than confirmation from Samsung’s cited corporate report. The sheet lists four rear cameras, which does not support the rumor that the released phone dropped a rear camera. It also lists a single aperture for each camera, rather than the rumored variable f/1.4–f/4.0 main lens.

Why early camera predictions differed
The leaks were not a single consistent specification. The March 2025 reports disagreed about the telephoto cameras’ resolution and zoom levels, while the first variable-aperture report did not give a range and the later one claimed f/1.4–f/4.0. In January 2026, TechRadar’s predictions listed a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide, 50MP 5x periscope and 10MP 3x telephoto, and treated variable aperture as an old, uncertain rumor. TechRadar’s January 2026 camera predictions further illustrates why those pre-release configurations should be read as evolving forecasts, not combined into a definitive spec list.

How to interpret the camera count and aperture
- Camera count: The available released-device specification sheet lists four rear cameras. The older claim that Samsung might remove one did not match that listing.
- Aperture: The sheet gives the main camera one listed aperture, f/1.4. It does not establish a mechanically or electronically variable aperture spanning f/1.4–f/4.0.
- Source confidence: Samsung’s cited report confirms release timing, not camera hardware. The detailed values above come from a retailer-hosted sheet, so check Samsung’s regional product page for manufacturer confirmation before relying on them as definitive specifications.
