RugOne says the 39-gram module can record up to 2.7K at 30 frames per second, then mount separately on gear such as a helmet or handlebars. It is an unusual way to carry a camera, but its short standalone battery life and 2.7K ceiling make it a companion camera, not an obvious substitute for a dedicated action cam.
How the detachable camera works
The camera sits in a magnetic dock on the phone and can be removed for separate mounting. RugOne describes a snap-and-latch attachment and lists helmet, handlebar, strap, and pendant use. The company says the module is waterproof to 5 meters; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independently reported underwater test.
When detached, the camera connects to the phone over Wi-Fi, according to TechRadar. Footage is stored on the module before transfer, and the phone can act as a remote control. 9to5Google reported an app streaming range of up to 50 meters; treat that as a reported capability rather than a guaranteed operating distance in every setting.
What the camera can record
- Video: RugOne lists recording up to 2.7K at 30 fps and a 133-degree field of view.
- Stabilization and framing: The company advertises SteadyX stabilization, Horizon Lock, and distortion correction, alongside FreeFrame video.
- Other modes: Listed options include time-lapse, slow motion, pre-recording, loop recording, and HDR photos.
- Storage and power: RugOne says the module has 64 GB of onboard memory, enough for up to eight hours of 1080p footage, and up to 40 minutes of standalone battery life. The company says docking it to the phone can recharge it up to 20 times.
These are RugOne’s published specifications and claims; the cited sources do not provide controlled tests of recording time, image quality, stabilization, or recharge count.

Is it useful, or should you buy a separate action camera?
The appeal is convenience: the camera is already carried with the phone, detaches quickly, and can be placed away from the handset while remaining remotely controllable. That could suit short clips or situations where mounting a small camera is easier than holding a phone.
The trade-off is capability. TechRadar reviewer Mark Pickavance called the device a “curious mash-up” and said its action camera “isn’t a replacement for a GoPro,” while noting it could still be useful. The review points to the 2.7K limit, the phone’s unusual shape, and a limited camera-control range. The available sources do not include a controlled comparison with GoPro, DJI, or Insta360 models, so they do not establish that the Xsnap is better or worse in measured image quality or stabilization.

For protection, RugOne lists IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H credentials, and says the phone can withstand submersion to 2 meters for 30 minutes and drops onto concrete from 1.5 meters. Those are company claims, not independent durability test results in the cited coverage. TechRadar’s comparison table lists the phone at 477 grams; RugOne’s launch post does not state a weight, so the figure should be understood as the review’s specification listing.
