For conventional gaming, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and Radeon RX 9070 XT are close enough that your games and the cards’ current prices matter more than a single overall ranking. In TechSpot’s May 2026 test of 52 games, the RTX 5070 Ti led by about 1.4% at 1440p and 4% at native 4K. The RTX is the stronger pick for demanding ray tracing and path tracing; the RX 9070 XT can be the better gaming value if it costs substantially less.
How close are they in gaming?
TechSpot’s May 22, 2026 comparison tested both GPUs across 52 games. In its 1440p aggregate, the RTX 5070 Ti was ahead by about two average frames per second, or roughly 1.4%. Average 1% lows were 108 fps for the RTX and 107 fps for the Radeon. At native 4K, the reported averages were 84 fps and 81 fps, respectively, giving the RTX a lead of about 4%. These are results from that review’s games and settings, not a prediction for every system or title. TechSpot’s 52-game comparison
The averages conceal meaningful differences from game to game. In TechSpot’s tested settings, the RX 9070 XT led in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Final Fantasy XVI, while the RTX 5070 Ti led in Crimson Desert and Stalker 2. Cyberpunk 2077 slightly favored Radeon in standard rasterization, but favored GeForce with ray tracing enabled. If you mostly play a few specific games, look for benchmarks at your resolution and settings rather than relying on an overall average.
TechSpot’s earlier March 2025 comparison found the RX 9070 XT about 5% slower overall at 1440p and 4K in a different 55-game sample. That result is not directly interchangeable with the newer test: the game mix, updates, and methodology affect an aggregate. The change is a reminder to treat benchmark averages as descriptions of a particular test suite, not permanent rankings.

Which is better for 1440p or 4K?
1440p
For broad 1440p gaming, either card is a reasonable choice. The 2026 aggregate’s roughly 1.4% RTX lead is small; a result that close is unlikely to settle the purchase without considering your games, graphics settings, and the price difference. Compare benchmarks for the titles you play, especially if you enable ray tracing.
4K
At native 4K, the RTX 5070 Ti had the larger lead in TechSpot’s aggregate, at about 4%, but that is still a review-level average rather than a guarantee in an individual game. Demanding 4K settings can also make upscaling or reduced effects useful on either card. Check performance at the precise combination of resolution, preset, and features you intend to use.
Which card is better for ray tracing and path tracing?
The RTX 5070 Ti is the clearer choice if heavy ray tracing or path tracing is a priority. TechSpot’s 2026 comparison found NVIDIA stronger in these demanding effects, including in Cyberpunk 2077’s ray-tracing test and Doom: The Dark Ages with path tracing. A relative win does not ensure a smooth native frame rate: TechSpot described the tested RTX path-tracing result as unplayable without mitigation. Be prepared to use upscaling, adjust settings, or both.
Software support may also matter. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 graphics-card guide identifies broader DLSS 4 game support than FSR 4 as an NVIDIA advantage, while describing FSR 4 as awkward to use. Support changes over time and is game-dependent, so check whether the specific games you play support the feature and mode you want. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 graphics-card guide

Does the RX 9070 XT offer better value?
It can, if its current local price is meaningfully lower and your priority is conventional gaming. When the price gap is small, the RTX 5070 Ti’s ray-tracing and path-tracing performance, lower power consumption in TechSpot’s comparison, and NVIDIA software advantages may make its premium easier to justify. There is no reliable universal price threshold: offers differ by country, retailer, and board model, and the value depends on which features you will actually use.
TechSpot’s March 2025 article listed $600 and $750 as the respective MSRPs for the RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti, and reported observed prices at that time of about $750 and $900. Those are historical figures, not current October 2026 offers. Its suggestion that Radeon needed to cost at least 15% less to earn its recommendation was a judgment tied to that article’s market and testing circumstances, not a standing rule for every buyer. Before buying, compare the exact board-partner models available to you. Prices, cooling, dimensions, connectors, power requirements, and warranty terms vary by model and region. Confirm fit and power compatibility on the manufacturer’s product page, and compare like-for-like offers rather than assuming every card with the same GPU has the same design.
What about power use and system fit?
In TechSpot’s May 2026 comparison, the RX 9070 XT typically consumed about 20% more power than the RTX 5070 Ti. That is a comparative result from that review, not a promise about every board model or a direct estimate of your electricity bill. Partner-card cooling and thermal behavior can vary, too.

Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the exact card you are considering, then verify that your case and power supply can accommodate it. In particular, confirm:
- Card length, thickness, and clearance around nearby components.
- Required power connectors and the power supply’s available connections and capacity.
- Cooling design and whether your case has adequate airflow.
Which is better for work, Blender, or AI?
NVIDIA is the more defensible starting point if creator or AI workloads are important, but “productivity” covers many applications and does not produce one universal GPU winner. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 guide describes NVIDIA as having an advantage for creator and AI performance and discusses workloads including animation rendering, AI image generation, local LLM processing, Procyon generative AI tests, and Blender. It does not establish a complete direct RTX 5070 Ti versus RX 9070 XT result set for every named workload.
Before choosing based on work performance, check support and benchmarks for your exact application and version, rendering engine, AI model and runtime, and project type. Confirm that the software can use the GPU and the features you need; where possible, compare results from the same test and settings rather than general claims about a brand. Quick Recap
Which should you buy?
- Choose the RX 9070 XT if it is notably cheaper where you live and your priority is conventional gaming in titles where its performance suits your settings.
- Choose the RTX 5070 Ti if you care about demanding ray tracing or path tracing, want the lower power use found in TechSpot’s comparison, or rely on NVIDIA features supported by your games or work software.
- For a close call, compare benchmarks for your own games and applications, then weigh the current prices of the exact board models—not old MSRP or review-day prices.
