Rivian’s August 2026 guide says most customers take delivery 4–8 weeks after confirming their build, but that is an estimate, not a promised date. The trim schedule is staggered, range figures differ by configuration, and the R2 uses a native NACS charge port.
When is the Rivian R2 coming out?
Rivian announced June 9, 2026, as the start of R2 order invitations, demo drives, and first customer deliveries. By August 7, the company said deliveries had begun and invitations were continuing in rolling waves. The date refers to the launch of ordering and deliveries—not a date when every reservation holder will receive a vehicle. Rivian’s launch announcement and its R2 ownership guide provide the company’s latest published timing.
How do R2 invitations and delivery timing work?
How Rivian decides who gets an invitation
Rivian says reservation timestamp and delivery location are primary factors. Customers near Rivian Service + Demo Centers may generally receive invitations sooner. The company also said current R1 owners would receive accelerated timing while balancing invitations with non-owners. Some early batches included randomly selected reservation holders to help refine delivery estimates. These are prioritization factors, not a specific invitation date for any individual reservation.
Where to find your invitation window
Check the estimated invite window in your Rivian Account. Invitations arrive in waves, and Rivian says an invited customer can wait to order without losing their place in line. The invite window is not the same as an order confirmation or delivery date.

How long delivery takes after ordering
Rivian’s August 2026 ownership guide says most customers take delivery within 4–8 weeks after confirming their build. This is the newer estimate; an earlier launch FAQ gave a 2–6 week estimate. Neither is a guarantee, and timing can vary with the build and delivery circumstances.
What if your lease is expiring?
Rivian says customers can enter expiring-lease information in their Rivian Account. That gives the company information to consider in invitation timing; it does not establish a guaranteed delivery date.

What do the R2 range figures mean?
The 345-mile figure is Rivian’s estimate for Standard RWD Long Range. The “up to 330 miles” Premium figure is identified by Rivian as EPA-estimated. They are not interchangeable measures, and neither establishes the real-world range of every buyer’s vehicle. Rivian says preliminary estimates based on EPA test cycles are not official EPA values; rely on an official EPA figure when one is specifically stated.
Rivian lists tires, drive modes, HVAC settings, accessories, battery, and other conditions as factors that can affect range. Weather, load, and driving conditions also matter. Compare figures only for the stated trim and estimate type rather than assuming a particular distance on every trip.

How does Rivian R2 charging work?
Public fast charging
Every R2 has a native NACS charge port. Rivian says this enables access to more than 21,000 Tesla Superchargers across the United States and Canada, as well as its Adventure Network. The vehicle’s center display can estimate where and how long to charge based on route and driving information. Network access does not guarantee that a particular charger is available or that every session will reach a particular speed.
Rivian advertises adding 150 miles in 15 minutes and charging from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes with DC fast charging. These are manufacturer claims, not guaranteed session results. Rivian says speed varies with battery capacity and state of charge, temperature, charger capacity, weather, and site conditions. See the R2 charging information for the company’s qualifications.

Home charging
Rivian says its Wall Charger can add up to 38 miles of range per hour under optimal conditions. Actual home charging depends on the charger, electrical supply, installation, and conditions. Rivian recommends arranging installation with a licensed electrician before delivery. If considering another Level 2 charger, verify the exact model’s NACS connector compatibility and electrical requirements before buying; the cited Rivian information does not verify any particular third-party charger.
How do you reserve or order an R2—and is the deposit refundable?
Rivian describes a reservation as the first step toward an R2 purchase; the final order comes later. The company’s FAQ describes a $100 reservation deposit as refundable, while its current checkout page labels the deposit “Non-refundable.” Because those statements conflict, do not assume the deposit is refundable: review the Reservation Agreement shown for your transaction or ask Rivian which terms apply before paying.
Rivian also says prices, options, and specifications may change until it builds the vehicle. A reservation is therefore not a fixed final price or a guarantee of a particular configuration.
