Start by checking the exact device and software; “e-ink tablet” alone does not tell you whether a calendar, timetable page, or dashboard will work. The options below are calendar and dashboard displays, not verified live bus or train departures.
Check your tablet before choosing a setup
Find the tablet’s exact model, operating system and available browser. Check whether it can install apps or open the current web pages you want to use. Compatibility varies by model and software, so do not assume that a setup for one e-ink reader will work on another.
Decide what “timetable” means for your use: a calendar you maintain, a public timetable page, or a live transit feed. The services described here support calendar or dashboard displays; the available information does not establish that they connect to live transit departures or service alerts.
Choose a route that fits the device
Kindle browser dashboard
EinkDashboard describes a cloud-rendered dashboard for Kindle browsers with calendar, tasks, weather, clocks and notes. The vendor says, “Works in the Kindle browser · no jailbreak required to try.” That is a vendor statement, not independent testing or a guarantee for every Kindle. The page warns that always-on behavior depends on the Kindle model and firmware. Check that the dashboard loads on your device and that it stays available as you expect before relying on it.

Calendar app for a compatible e-ink reader
Google Play’s Ink On listing describes a calendar display for e-ink readers, says it works offline, and names device families including Onyx Boox, Kindle, Kobo, Meebook, Bigme, Likebook and Crema. The listing was updated April 22, 2026. These are app-listing claims; they do not establish compatibility with every model in those families or support for a transit timetable feed. Check the listing and your reader’s software before installing.
General tablet dashboard
PlanaTab describes a wall dashboard for tablets with a calendar grid and connections to services such as Google, Todoist, Dropbox, iCloud and Trello. Its page does not establish e-ink optimization or transit-feed support. Consider it only if your tablet can run it legibly and reliably.

DIY dashboard
A community Kindle dashboard repository describes weather, calendar, notes and clock features. A separate e-paper and Home Assistant project uses dedicated hardware, rather than repurposing a tablet. These examples show that DIY dashboards exist; they do not mean you need to modify hardware. Consider this route only if the device’s available browser and apps do not meet your needs and you are comfortable with the extra setup.
Evaluate whether the display will be useful day to day
- Schedule source: Confirm whether you can display the calendar, public timetable page or transit feed you actually need. A calendar view is not automatically a live departure board.
- Refresh and persistence: Check how the page updates and whether it remains on screen. Do not assume a particular refresh interval or always-on behavior; these depend on the device, software and service.
- Legibility: Make sure the text and layout are readable at the distance and angle where you will use the tablet.
- Cloud and offline use: EinkDashboard describes its output as cloud-rendered, while Ink On’s store listing says it works offline. These statements describe those services as presented by their vendor or app listing; they are not broader privacy guarantees.
- Power and placement: Decide whether the tablet can stay where you need it and be powered safely without obstructing its controls or port.
There are no independent head-to-head performance tests in the available material, so the practical test is whether your own device displays the right information consistently.

Mount it only after checking fit and power
For a fixed display, an adhesive tablet wall mount may be an option. A right-angle USB charging cable may help if the tablet’s port orientation makes a straight cable awkward. Neither is a universal requirement: check the tablet’s dimensions, case, port location, power needs and mounting surface before buying anything, and use a safe charging arrangement.

The simplest successful setup may be a calendar or dashboard that makes a schedule easy to glance at. Whether your old tablet can do that depends on its exact model and software. The available service descriptions do not verify live transit feeds, real-time departures or service alerts, so do not treat a calendar display as a live transit helper unless the specific schedule source you choose confirms that capability.
