The original NuPhy Halo96 wireless mechanical keyboard is a compact 96% board that keeps a dedicated numpad and desktop navigation keys while reducing the width of a conventional full-size keyboard. NuPhy specifies three connection modes, hot-swappable switches, multi-OS support and a 4,000 mAh battery. It is a strong fit for buyers who need number-pad productivity without a full-size footprint, but availability is currently a problem: NuPhy’s original Halo96 page lists its variants as sold out.
What the original Halo96 is
NuPhy identifies this generation as a 99-key ANSI 96% mechanical keyboard. The layout compresses the navigation cluster and spacing around the numpad rather than removing the numpad, so you retain number-entry keys and most familiar desktop controls in a 377 × 135 mm footprint.

#1 Best Overall
- 【Surrounded by a Halo】Many things have changed on Halo75’s V2, even the classic look has taken a major makeover to look more Halo. The top shell is still made of high quality aluminum alloy,Surrounding lights at the bottom can make the keyboard have a better visual experience.
- 【Multiple Connectivity】Halo75 V2 mechanical keyboard supports Bluetooth/2.4GHz/USB-C connectivity and is compatible with macOS/Windows/Linux/Android/iOS. Wireless mode allows you to connect up to four devices at the same time and switch between the four devices at will, allowing you to go from office to gaming with ease.
- 【QMK/VIA support】It only makes sense to extend the great customizability achieved on Halo75 V2’s hardware to its firmware as well. With the open-source QMK/VIA firmware, its endless key mapping, light customization, and other creative possibilities, our hardware’s potential can be truly realized.
- 【Endurance】The battery capacity is 4000mAh;Working Time (all lights on): 9~91 hours;Working Time (homing bars only): 140~200 hours;Working Time (all lights off): Up to 307 hours.【The above times are derived from experimental tests and may deviate from actual use.】
- 【Low Latency】The Halo75 V2 wireless gaming keyboard achieves a polling rate of 1000Hz in both wired and 2.4GHz modes, allowing you to work without the distraction of latency and release your skills with precision in the game.
Connection options and everyday flexibility
2.4 GHz wireless
The included receiver provides a dedicated wireless link. This is the option to try when you want a desktop-style connection without a cable and do not want to rely on Bluetooth pairing.
Bluetooth 5.0
Bluetooth makes the board usable with compatible computers, tablets and phones. NuPhy lists macOS, Windows, Android and iOS support, but the number of simultaneously paired devices or a specific switching shortcut is not stated on the original product page.
Wired USB-C
Connect the keyboard with USB-C when charging, troubleshooting wireless pairing or using a permanent desk setup. NuPhy includes a 1.5 m USB-C-to-USB-A cable.
Battery life: treat the figures as laboratory estimates
NuPhy rates the battery at 4,000 mAh and publishes two widely different working-time conditions: 5–10 hours with all lights on and up to 205 hours with all lights off. These are NuPhy laboratory test results, not independently verified measurements. Your result will vary with lighting brightness and effects, connection mode, typing activity and sleep settings, so the all-lights-off number should not be treated as a universal runtime.

Can you change the Halo96’s switches or keycaps?
Switches
Hot-swap support means you can remove the installed switches and try alternatives without soldering. That makes it practical to change the board’s sound and feel over time. The supplied information does not confirm whether the original Halo96 accepts every 3-pin or 5-pin MX-style switch, so check the socket and plate requirements for your exact board before buying replacements.
A community question about changing switches and keys is anecdotal rather than a representative survey, and replies there discuss more than one NuPhy model. Use it as a starting point, not as compatibility documentation: the Reddit discussion.
Keycaps
You can replace keycaps to alter profile, texture, legends or appearance. Because this is a compact 96% ANSI layout, confirm that a set includes the board’s less-standard bottom-row and right-side sizes. NuPhy’s page shows additional Halo96 keycaps as an accessory path; availability and fit should be checked at purchase.
Tools and included spares
The box includes a keycap/switch puller, 18 extra keycaps and seven extra switches, along with the keyboard, receiver, cable, quick guide and stickers. Those spares are useful for experimenting or replacing an individual part, but they do not establish a particular replacement-switch standard beyond the board being hot-swappable.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteOriginal Halo96 versus Halo96 V2
Do not silently treat V2 specifications as revisions to the original. NuPhy lists the later Halo96 V2 as a separate generation. V2’s page mentions 3/5-pin MX-style hot-swap support, 1,000 Hz polling in wired and 2.4 GHz modes, 125 Hz Bluetooth polling and different package contents. Those details should not be used to describe the original Halo96 unless NuPhy separately confirms them for that model.
Who should consider it?
- Choose it for: a numpad, navigation keys, three connection choices and a smaller footprint than a traditional full-size board.
- Choose it if customization matters: hot-swap support lets you explore different switches and keycaps without soldering, subject to compatibility checks.
- Be cautious if you need a current purchase: NuPhy’s original product page currently shows the listed variants as sold out, and no verified retailer price or stock was established.
- Look elsewhere if you require measured performance data: the available evidence does not establish independent latency, noise, comfort, reliability or battery testing.
Optional accessories
NuPhy shows a Twotone wrist rest for the 96% board and additional Halo96 keycaps. Both are optional; confirm layout fit and current availability before ordering. No current price, retailer inventory, warranty or return terms were verified for this review.
