Short answer: The reviewed datarhei Restreamer documentation does not show a setting for fades, crossfades, gapless cuts, or looping a sequence of prerecorded videos to YouTube. Its “playlist” controls concern HLS media segments, not transitions between video files. Be careful not to confuse datarhei Restreamer with Restream, a separate hosted service with different prerecorded-video features.
First, distinguish Restreamer from Restream
datarhei Restreamer and Restream are different products. The available documentation describes datarhei Restreamer publishing a video source to YouTube using its Publication Service and a valid YouTube streaming ID. Restream’s Help Center, by contrast, documents a hosted feature for scheduling prerecorded videos. Features of one product should not be assumed to exist in the other.
What datarhei Restreamer documents for YouTube
The datarhei guide, “How can I use YouTube with the Restreamer?”, describes publishing a source through the Publication Service with a valid YouTube streaming ID. It does not document a control for transitions between prerecorded playlist items or for looping such a playlist. See the YouTube publishing guide.
The guide also advises ending the stream on YouTube first after an event. Stopping the stream in Restreamer instead may prevent YouTube from saving the live stream in its DVR archive. Follow the YouTube-side end-stream step when preserving that archive matters.

Why Restreamer’s HLS “playlist” settings are not video transitions
Restreamer’s Processing and Control documentation covers HLS output and stream-process behavior. In that context, a playlist is a list of HLS media segments generated from a stream—not a queue of separate prerecorded videos. The documented defaults are a recommended 2-second HLS segment length and a list size of 6 segments; a list size of 0 contains all segments. Those values affect HLS packaging, not fades or cuts between video files. See Processing and Control.
Changing segment length or list size therefore does not provide a documented way to make a prerecorded YouTube sequence transition seamlessly. The reviewed documentation does not specify a tested transition workflow, so it would be misleading to suggest a setting or promise a gapless result.

If you meant Restream’s hosted prerecorded-video feature
Restream documents different behavior for one prerecorded video and a multi-video playlist. Its Help Center article “Loop the video of your pre-recorded stream,” published March 11, 2026, says a single video can be looped up to 10 times, with a maximum stream duration of 40 hours. The feature is paid. It also says playlists themselves cannot be looped; duplicating videos up to the 40-video playlist limit can approximate replaying a sequence. These are Restream features, not datarhei Restreamer settings. See Restream’s video-looping instructions.
Restream’s playlist instructions describe arranging and scheduling videos. Separate playlists scheduled back to back have a documented two-minute buffer between streams. That is not a configurable two-minute transition between individual videos within one playlist, and the documentation does not establish seamless playback between playlist items.
