If a video stops at the end in Restream Studio, turn on Loop in that video’s playback controls. A scheduled pre-recorded event uses a separate loop-count setting, while a Restream playlist cannot loop as a playlist. If the entire broadcast goes offline, check the incoming stream connection rather than the video loop setting.
First identify what stopped
Restream has different controls for videos added in Studio, scheduled pre-recorded events, playlists, and a disconnected RTMP/SRT source. Choose the case that matches what you were doing:
- Video added to a Studio scene: Enable Loop on that media source.
- Scheduled single-video broadcast: Set the event’s loop count.
- Scheduled playlist: Restream does not support looping a playlist; duplicate its entries in the desired order.
- The whole broadcast went offline: Investigate the source connection. The Studio video loop control does not keep a disconnected stream alive.
Loop a video in Restream Studio
Studio playback controls include a Loop option for both a video in Restream storage and a local video. Turn it on for the video source in the scene; playback then repeats from the beginning when the video ends. Restream says only one video from storage can play at a time. Use a video stored in Restream
- In Restream Studio, add a scene.
- Select Media, then Video.
- Choose a video from Restream storage or upload one.
- Open that video’s playback controls and switch on Loop.
Use a local video
- In Studio, add a scene and select Media.
- Select the plus icon, choose Local video, and open the file.
- Open the video’s playback controls and enable Loop.
Restream says local video is free for all users, recommends Chrome, and notes that local playback performance depends on the computer. If playback is poor because the device lacks capacity, try a video from Restream storage instead. Follow Restream’s local-video instructions.

Check the output quality
Restream says the outgoing Studio stream retains the video’s original quality, although the preview may appear lower quality for performance. Match the source to the Studio output: a 4K source sent through a 720p stream may be reduced in quality. The preview alone therefore may not represent the outgoing stream’s quality. Set a loop count for a scheduled pre-recorded event
A scheduled pre-recorded event is not the same as a Studio media source or a playlist. When creating the event, choose Pre-recorded livestream, select Video, choose or upload the file, and enter the event details. Enable the optional loop count and choose up to 10 plays. Restream’s current help article lists Marathon and Media add-on plans as offering event looping; if the option is missing, check your account’s current plan and event controls because availability and plan names can change. Change the count on an existing event
- Open the Restream Home screen and find the event.
- Open its three-dot menu and select Edit event.
- Edit the event date/time settings, adjust the loop count, and save.
The event card displays the loop quantity, and the scheduled video airs automatically at its selected time. Restream notes that some destinations, including TikTok or Instagram, may require you to click Go Live on the destination platform after Restream starts the broadcast.
Work around playlist looping limits
Restream’s documentation says playlists do not currently support looping as a playlist. To repeat a sequence, duplicate its entries in the desired order before the playlist goes live. For example, arrange A, B, C, A, B, C to play the sequence twice. The playlist limit is 40 entries total and 24 hours of content; entries can be added, removed, or reordered only before the playlist goes live. Restream says playlists are available with Upload & Stream Marathon or Media add-on tiers. See Restream’s playlist instructions.

If you need live and prerecorded segments together, Restream points to Studio video sources rather than a playlist.
If the entire stream went offline
A video reaching its end is different from an RTMP/SRT input going offline. Restream’s disconnect-protection feature can play a fallback video for a selected 5, 15, or 30 minutes. It requires a Business or custom Enterprise plan and must be configured before going live. The default fallback is described as a 17-second video that loops during the selected window. If the source reconnects within that time, the fallback stops and the live feed resumes; if it does not, the destination streams end and you must start a new stream. Diagnose before changing settings
- If only the video stops but the broadcast remains live, check the video’s Loop control or the scheduled event’s loop count.
- If a playlist reaches its end, duplicate entries before it goes live; playlists do not have a loop toggle.
- If the broadcast itself ends, check whether the RTMP/SRT input disconnected and whether disconnect protection was configured.
- If a scheduled event ends at its expected time, verify its event settings and loop count.
Restream’s documentation describes these workflows but does not identify the cause of a particular account’s failure, so confirm what stopped before concluding that a bug or service outage is responsible.

For scheduled pre-recorded video, Restream lists these mandatory requirements: MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV container; H.264 video; AAC audio; and keyframe interval 2. It recommends Full HD 1080p at 30 or 60 FPS, constant bitrate where appropriate, and 15–20 seconds of material at the beginning and end to give destinations time to process the incoming stream. Recommended bitrate depends on the destination platform. These recommendations concern upload and performance; Restream does not say that missing an optional recommendation disables looping.
