What Restream offers for an always-on YouTube channel
Restream combines tools for streaming to multiple destinations with an Upload & Stream workflow for prerecorded video. According to Restream’s Upload & Stream help article, you can schedule prerecorded videos as live events, arrange videos in playlists, and repeat a video up to 10 times. Restream’s product page also promotes continuous TV, music, and news programming.
These capabilities support prerecorded programming, but they do not establish a tested uptime record or guarantee that one live session will continue indefinitely. Restream’s operational guidance says a server maintenance restart may interrupt a continuous stream after 24 hours and recommends restarting every 24 hours. Treat continuity as something to plan for, not a property guaranteed by the phrase “24/7.”

Build a playlist and repeat video
You can arrange prerecorded videos into playlists, and Restream documents repeating an individual video up to 10 times. That is a finite repeat setting, not evidence that every playlist can loop forever. If you need programming to run beyond the supported repeat behavior, check the current controls in your account and plan how to restart or requeue it.
Choose the streaming workflow
Restream distinguishes its browser Studio, external encoder workflows, prerecorded streams, and webinars. Its help materials name OBS, vMix, Wirecast, and Ecamm as encoder examples. Those are software options; the cited documentation does not establish that an encoder appliance is required for prerecorded streaming.
Continuity: what “24/7” does and does not mean
Restream says its service does not impose a stream-duration limit, but it also warns that server maintenance may restart a continuous stream after 24 hours and recommends restarting every 24 hours. The practical distinction is important: a service may support a long-running use case while still requiring an operator or process to recover from a restart. Restream’s feature pages are product descriptions, not independent reliability tests, and the available information does not establish an uptime guarantee.

If a channel must stay available while nobody is monitoring it, decide who or what will detect a dropped session and restart the broadcast. Do not infer from “continuous” or “24/7” marketing that a stream cannot be interrupted.

YouTube replay archives are separate from stream duration
Restream’s YouTube streaming guidance says YouTube has no stream-duration limit, but archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. A continuous broadcast can therefore remain live longer than the replay YouTube saves. If you need a complete archive, plan shorter sessions or make your own recording rather than assuming one replay will cover the entire run.
Plans, destination limits, and prerecorded-video access
Plan details are volatile, and Restream’s own pages show different plan labels and feature presentations. Its February 2026 plan comparison lists simultaneous destination limits, while the Upload & Stream product page displays separate offers with upload-library durations. Do not assume those labels map neatly onto one another; check the current plan and entitlements shown for your account before paying.

Restream says accounts may connect more channels than they can activate simultaneously. The free-plan article lists streaming to two channels, browser Studio in HD, third-party encoder support, multi-chat, analytics, and scheduled events, with Restream branding. It lists three or more simultaneous channels, Facebook Pages or Groups, and custom RTMP destinations among paid triggers. Check the current offer before relying on a particular feature or limit.
Connect YouTube before scheduling a stream
Restream’s YouTube setup guide says live streaming must be enabled on the YouTube channel, the channel owner must authorize access, and first-time activation includes phone verification followed by a 24-hour wait. Allow for that activation time before a scheduled launch.
- Verify that the correct YouTube channel is authorized in Restream.
- Enable YouTube live streaming early enough to complete first-time verification and its waiting period.
- Confirm the intended Restream plan supports prerecorded streaming, the desired library size, and the required number of simultaneous destinations.
- Schedule a short test event and verify that the video, title, destination, and playback behave as intended before relying on a long run.
Copyright, reused content, and channel policy still apply
Sending prerecorded material as a live stream does not make it exempt from YouTube’s rules. Use video and audio you own or have permission to broadcast, and check music, footage, and other third-party rights before scheduling a playlist. Repeated or minimally changed material can also affect a channel’s eligibility for monetization under YouTube’s policies; streaming software cannot grant rights or guarantee monetization. Review YouTube’s current policies for the channel and content you plan to publish.

The live run has no complete YouTube replay
