Resident Evil: The Other Survivors has been announced as a fan-made Resident Evil 2 mod by creator ALSOP, not as a confirmed Capcom game. The project is in development, with its core route and puzzles reported complete on September 23, 2026, while cutscenes and other implementation work remain. ModDB lists the release date as not yet determined; a demo has been discussed but has no announced date.

The Other Survivors is a single-player modification built around Resident Evil 2. ALSOP’s project page on ModDB presents it as a fan project featuring two original protagonists: Frank Williams and Keith Deadman.

The title’s “officially announced” wording should therefore be read as a project announcement from its creator. The available primary information does not establish a Capcom announcement, a licensed new release, or a standalone game. It also does not confirm which retail or digital edition of Resident Evil 2 will be required.
Story setting and timeline
The main events begin on September 29, 1998, during the Raccoon City outbreak. A radio call from Raccoon High School points the characters toward an informant embedded among the faculty and evidence connected to Umbrella.

Frank Williams
Frank’s section follows the outbreak investigation through the Raccoon City setting. The creator describes his equipment loop as scavenging weapons and ammunition from police bodies and SWAT vehicles.
Keith Deadman
Keith’s storyline combines September 1998 events with flashbacks to July 1998 at the Spencer Estate. His scenario begins with a customized Glock 19, while additional supplies are placed in both visible and hidden room locations.

Those story and resource details come from ALSOP’s project description; they are design claims rather than independently tested gameplay observations.

Both scenarios are described by the creator as using Leon’s game data. That statement indicates the project’s technical foundation, but it is not a complete compatibility or installation specification.

Development status as of September 2026
In a September 23, 2026 ModDB update, ALSOP said the route from the mod’s start to its intended ending and all puzzles were complete. The update described that core as version 1.0 while leaving cutscenes and other work to be implemented.
“What I mean by that is the core moving from point A (start) to point B (end of mod) is done, the cutscenes and various other things are left to implement.”

The same update mentioned a possible later version 1.1. “Version 1.0” here refers to the creator’s description of the project’s core, not a publicly downloadable finished build.
Release date and demo availability
There is no confirmed download date. ModDB’s release-date field remains not yet set, and ALSOP answered a commenter asking when the mod could be downloaded by saying the release date was still to be determined.

A GenerationAmiga report published October 4, 2026 described a demo as planned, but gave neither a demo date nor a finished-release date. “Planned” should not be interpreted as available: no downloadable demo is established by the cited information.

What you will likely need when it releases

The creator has not identified a required retail edition, storefront version or current purchase route. Verify those details on the project’s official ModDB page before downloading or buying anything.
- Check the ModDB listing for the published build and its stated base-game version.
- Read the release notes for operating-system, patch and installation requirements.
- Back up existing Resident Evil 2 saves and mod files before applying a conversion.
- Use only the creator’s instructions once a download is actually posted; a planned demo is not a substitute for release documentation.
Bottom line for prospective players
The Other Survivors is worth watching as an ambitious, character-driven Resident Evil 2 fan project, but it is not currently a confirmed Capcom title or a downloadable release. Its core progression and puzzles were reported complete in September 2026, while presentation work, implementation details and release timing remain open. Until ALSOP publishes a dated build with requirements, treat every schedule reference as provisional.
