Ways to renew AT&T PREPAID service

AT&T documents these account-management routes in its account support instructions. Its older quick-start guide also lists refill cards; confirm current card availability, denominations, and terms before buying one.
Make a one-time online payment
- Sign in to your AT&T PREPAID account.
- Open Manage Prepaid account.
- Select Make a Payment.
- Enter or select a payment method, review the amount, and submit the payment.
AT&T lists credit cards, debit cards carrying a major credit-card logo, checking accounts, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, and PayPal among online payment options. The options offered by phone can be narrower, so check the available choices in the channel you use.
Turn on AutoPay
- Sign in to your AT&T PREPAID account and open Manage Prepaid account → Make a Payment.
- Select Pay and Enroll in AutoPay.
- Choose a saved payment method or add one.
- Accept the AutoPay terms and confirm enrollment.
For a monthly plan, AT&T says the AutoPay charge is processed one day before the due date. For a non-monthly plan, it is processed one day before the account balance expires. Check your account for the exact renewal date and payment amount rather than relying on a generic calendar reminder. What happens if you do not pay
- If AutoPay is not enabled and you do not fund the account when renewal is due, AT&T says service will be turned off.
- AT&T says an unpaid number will be reassigned after 60 days.
- If you are leaving AT&T PREPAID, remove AutoPay so a future charge is not attempted.
- Cancel third-party subscriptions that are billed through the AT&T PREPAID account separately; stopping plan renewal does not automatically cancel those subscriptions.
Base-plan renewal versus add-ons
Your base plan and optional add-ons are separate. AT&T says an add-on configured for auto-renew renews every 30 days, with its charge deducted from the AT&T PREPAID balance. To manage an add-on, use the online account or phone support, then turn off that add-on’s auto-renew setting if you no longer want it. See AT&T’s prepaid add-on support for the management steps.
Choosing the right renewal method
Manual payment
Choose manual payment when you want to decide each renewal date, change the amount or payment source regularly, or avoid keeping AutoPay enabled.

AutoPay
Choose AutoPay when predictable automatic charging is more important than manually approving each renewal. Keep the payment method current and verify the scheduled date in your account.
Phone support
Use 611 or 1-800-901-9878 when web access is unavailable or you prefer telephone account management. Payment methods and prompts may differ from the online experience.

Refill card
A refill card can be useful when you want to add funds through a retail location, but the cited AT&T guide is older. Confirm that cards are currently sold and accepted before purchasing.

Quick renewal checklist
- Check whether your plan is monthly or non-monthly.
- Confirm the account’s displayed due date or balance-expiration date.
- Verify the renewal amount and that your payment method is valid.
- Decide whether to make a one-time payment or enroll in AutoPay.
- Review add-ons separately; their auto-renewal cycle is 30 days.
- If you are stopping service, disable AutoPay and cancel any third-party subscriptions billed through the account.
