What the customer says happened
In a report published October 1, 2026, Attack of the Fanboy summarized a complaint posted by Reddit user Lonely_Carpenter6048 in r/mildlyinfuriating. The post caption, as quoted by the report, read: “Wasted 35 minutes and paid $29 to get Thai food with mould!” Those figures describe the poster’s account of one order; they are not independently verified measurements or broader statistics.
The article described the accompanying photo as showing wide rice noodles, greens and two citrus wedges, one bearing a blue-green patch. It does not identify the substance. The poster reportedly said they took the food back to the restaurant, where staff called the patch paper and said, “It’s paper. no refund!” The poster said they argued with a manager for about 15 minutes before the manager agreed to exchange the order.
What is—and is not—confirmed
- The story is a Reddit user’s complaint as relayed by a news site, not an independently established food-safety finding.
- The patch’s identity is unknown from the report. The poster described it as mould; staff reportedly said it was paper.
- The report does not establish that the noodles or other food were contaminated, or that a health-code violation occurred.
- The restaurant is not named, its location is not given, and its account of the dispute is not included.

Why the distinction matters
A blue-green mark in a photo may prompt concern, but appearance alone does not prove that a substance is mould. The report supplies no independent examination or confirmation. It is therefore accurate to describe this as a complaint about a suspected mould-like patch—not as a confirmed case of mould in restaurant food.
