The Razer Handheld Dock Chroma is worth considering if you want a sturdy, portable stand with built-in RGB and broad compatibility with USB-C gaming handhelds. Its trade-offs are a limited port selection, HDMI 2.0 rather than HDMI 2.1, a non-detachable host cable, and no included power adapter. It makes more sense for buyers who value its design and folding stand than for those seeking maximum connectivity or the lowest total cost.

What the Razer Handheld Dock Chroma includes

This is a USB-C dock and adjustable stand in one. Connect a compatible handheld to the dock’s USB-C host cable, then attach a display, wired network, and USB accessories. The stand folds for transport and adjusts to two viewing angles: 45° and 75°.

Feature Specification
Host connection USB-C; the device must support power, video, and data over USB-C
Display output HDMI 2.0; Razer documents support for 4K at 60Hz
USB ports Three USB-A Gen 1 ports, rated up to 5Gbps
Networking Gigabit Ethernet
Power input and pass-through USB-C PD input up to 100W; up to 85W can reach the handheld, with the remainder available to power dock peripherals
Stand angles 45° and 75°
Materials, size, and weight Aluminum and plastic; 194 × 32 × 194 mm; 0.92 kg
Lighting Razer Chroma RGB, controlled by a dedicated button; Synapse offers additional configuration

Specifications and power figures are from Razer’s support documentation. The 100W figure is the dock’s maximum USB-C PD input, not the amount delivered to the handheld.

Which devices does it work with?

Razer lists compatibility with USB-C handhelds and tablets that support power, video, and data over USB-C. That includes the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and Nintendo Switch, along with compatible phones and tablets. Compatibility depends on the device’s USB-C capabilities; a USB-C connector alone does not guarantee video output.

Razer notes a placement caveat for the Nintendo Switch. Independent testing by Windows Central and HotHardware also describes use with handhelds; HotHardware reports fitting a Nintendo Switch 2 and smartphones. Those reviews do not establish that every case or device configuration will fit equally well.

How good is the stand and fit?

The folding stand is the dock’s most practical design advantage: it combines a viewing angle for handheld play with a dock that can be packed away. Windows Central found the stand compact and well built, while HotHardware praised the construction and hinge. The dock weighs 0.92 kg according to Razer, so “portable” means foldable and travel-oriented, not especially light.

Thicker protective cases can interfere with seating a handheld properly, according to Windows Central. If you normally play with a bulky case, check its dimensions against the dock’s support and return policy before buying; the available reviews do not establish a universal case-thickness limit.

What are the display and port limitations?

HDMI 2.0: up to 4K at 60Hz

Razer documents HDMI output up to 4K at 60Hz. This is suitable for a 4K television or monitor at that refresh rate, but the dock does not provide HDMI 2.1. Windows Central notes that this rules out dock-driven 4K at 120Hz and 1080p at 240Hz use cases. A display’s own capabilities do not raise the dock’s HDMI ceiling.

Three USB-A ports, but no USB-C data expansion

The three USB-A Gen 1 ports are rated up to 5Gbps and can handle common wired peripherals and storage. There is no high-speed USB-C data port for connecting newer USB-C accessories, and the independent reviews criticize the otherwise sparse selection, including the absence of 10-Gbps USB.

Gigabit Ethernet

Wired networking is available through Gigabit Ethernet. HotHardware notes that the dock does not offer faster Ethernet. If you need multi-gig wired networking or more varied expansion, its port set may be too restrictive.

Does it include a charger, and how is power delivered?

No charger is included. You need a compatible USB-C PD power adapter and should connect it to the dock’s USB-C PD input. The dock accepts up to 100W; Razer says up to 85W can be passed to the handheld, while the remainder powers dock peripherals. Actual charging depends on the adapter, the handheld’s requirements, and connected accessories. Budget for a suitable adapter when comparing the dock’s total cost with alternatives.

Is the RGB worth paying extra for?

The Chroma RGB lighting is a genuine differentiator if you want a coordinated gaming setup. You can use the dock’s dedicated button for lighting control, with additional configuration available through Razer Synapse. If lighting is not important to you, it does not compensate for the missing HDMI 2.1, USB-C data expansion, or included charger; those are more consequential differences for connectivity-focused buyers.

Price and buying advice

Reported prices vary by review date and should not be treated as a current live quote. Windows Central listed a $79.99 retail price in its February 22, 2025 review. HotHardware reported an $89.99 MSRP in its February 24, 2026 review and mentioned a temporary discount during testing. Check the current listing and include the cost of a compatible USB-C PD charger in your comparison.

  • Choose it if you value a well-finished folding stand, Chroma lighting, and compatibility with a range of USB-C handhelds more than port variety or the lowest total price.
  • Look elsewhere if HDMI 2.1, USB-C data ports, a bundled charger, detachable host cabling, faster Ethernet, or more ports per dollar are priorities.

The host cable is captive rather than replaceable, a durability concern noted by Windows Central. HotHardware likewise criticizes the lack of USB-C pass-through and faster connectivity. Neither review supplies a comparative failure-rate or performance test, so these are design trade-offs, not evidence that the dock is unreliable.
