CBS Sports, in a report by RotoWire Staff attributing the news to Tampa Bay Times reporter Marc Topkin, said Wells expected to be ready for the ALDS. The report said he had experienced right forearm tightness in mid-September, then bounced back quickly. The October 2 report does not include a direct quotation from Wells, a Rays announcement of formal medical clearance, or confirmation that Wells was on Tampa Bay’s final ALDS roster. It supports saying he expected to be ready, but not that he was officially cleared, selected to the roster, or appeared in a game.

The same CBS Sports report gave Wells’s combined Baltimore–Tampa Bay 2026 line as a 2.38 ERA and 72 strikeouts against 18 walks over 72 innings. Those figures are as reported by CBS Sports/RotoWire; they were not independently reconciled to an official statistics database.
