Davante Adams was expected to return to the Rams’ second wide receiver role for their Week 4 game at Philadelphia on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, after Puka Nacua was cleared to play. That depth-chart change did not make Adams irrelevant: he had produced heavily while Nacua was out. But the pregame reporting did not establish Nacua’s snap count or Adams’s expected targets and routes, so a precise workload projection was not available.
Why Adams was moving back to WR2
On Oct. 2, CBS Sports reported that Adams would serve as the Rams’ WR2 against the Eagles after Nacua was cleared to return. CBS’s depth chart listed Nacua first and Adams second. The change reflected Nacua’s return, rather than a reported decline in Adams’s recent performance. CBS Sports’ Oct. 2 report
What Adams had produced with Nacua out
Adams had caught 15 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns on 23 targets across the previous two games, both played while Nacua was absent, according to CBS’s report. Separately, NFL.com’s 2026 season statistics listed Adams with 18 receptions, 358 receiving yards and two touchdowns through three September games. These are pregame snapshots, not Week 4 results or season-final totals. NFL.com’s 2026 statistics
What was known about Nacua’s return
The Eagles’ official report said Nacua was preparing to return after missing two games with a hip injury and groin soreness. The NFL’s Week 4 injury report listed both Nacua and Adams as full participants, with neither given a game-status designation in the Rams listing. Those reports described their pregame health status; they did not settle how much either player would play. Philadelphia’s official report · NFL Week 4 injury report

What the WR2 label did—and did not—tell fantasy managers
The depth-chart order supports expecting Nacua to rank ahead of Adams in the receiver pecking order. It does not, by itself, establish Adams’s target share, route total or red-zone workload. CBS reported that the Rams were still determining Nacua’s snap count for his return. Adams had remained productive during Nacua’s absence, and the report suggested he could continue to be a top target, particularly in the red zone, but it supplied no quantified projection for either player.
For a Week 4 fantasy decision, treat Adams as a productive receiver whose nominal role had shifted behind Nacua, not as a player with a confirmed low target outlook. The available pregame information did not support a firm usage forecast.
