Yes. A CBS Sports report published October 2, 2026, said Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak still had confidence in cornerback Darien Porter, despite Porter playing no defensive snaps in the Week 3 win over New Orleans. That confidence does not confirm Porter as the Week 4 starter or guarantee him more playing time against Kansas City.
What the report says about Porter’s role
CBS Sports, citing Sam Warren of The Athletic, reported that Kubiak viewed Porter and rookie Hezekiah Masses as starter-level options opposite Eric Stokes. The account paraphrases Kubiak; it does not provide a verbatim quote. Read the CBS Sports report.
The distinction is important: the coach was reported to have confidence in Porter, but that did not translate into defensive snaps against New Orleans. Porter recorded zero defensive snaps in that Week 3 game, according to CBS Sports/RotoWire Staff.
Why Porter had fallen out of the lineup
Porter missed Week 2 with a foot injury. Masses started at outside corner during Porter’s absence, and the report described both players as viable starter-level choices opposite Stokes. It does not establish that the injury alone explains Porter’s Week 3 usage or that the competition had been settled.

Will Darien Porter play against the Chiefs?
The report said Porter could be more involved defensively against Kansas City. “Could” is a possibility, not a confirmation: it names no Week 4 starter, expected snap count, or defensive rotation. The available account therefore supports a cautious outlook rather than a prediction that Porter will return to a starting role.

How to read the update
- Confidence is not a lineup announcement: the report indicates Kubiak still believed Porter could be a starter-level option, not that he had named Porter the starter.
- Recent usage is a separate signal: Porter’s zero defensive snaps against New Orleans show he did not play a defensive role in that game, regardless of the reported confidence.
- The Chiefs outlook remains uncertain: increased involvement was described as possible, with no guaranteed return or snap total.
