Emirates A380 First Class stands out for its onboard Shower Spa and private suites with closing doors; Qantas A380 First Class emphasizes made-to-order dining, companion dining in the suite and bedding that includes a memory-foam mattress. Both airlines publish 14-suite A380 First cabins, lie-flat beds and access to a shared upper-deck lounge. Neither airline’s published features establish an objective overall winner, and the experience depends on the aircraft and itinerary you actually book.
What is the clearest difference between Qantas and Emirates A380 First Class?
The most useful distinction is what each airline highlights as part of its A380 product, rather than a claim that one cabin is universally more comfortable. Qantas’s upgraded A380 has 14 refurbished First Suites and a First/Business lounge. Emirates describes 14 upper-deck First Suites, a First Class Shower Spa and an upper-deck lounge shared with Business Class.
Qantas’s product flyer emphasizes à la carte dining designed by Neil Perry, snacks and light meals available at any time, and the option to dine with a companion in the suite. Emirates highlights personal dining on demand and, in an announcement dated 14 May 2025, unlimited caviar on its A380 First Class service. These are airline-published product descriptions, not independent assessments of food quality or service.
How do the suites and privacy compare?
Qantas’s upgraded A380 factsheet lists 14 refurbished First Suites and notes new cushioning, a brighter color scheme, an 18-inch entertainment screen, and high-powered USB and power outlets. Its First product flyer describes an expansive armchair with in-seat massage, entertainment and lighting controls.

Emirates’s 14 A380 First Suites are arranged 1-2-1 on the upper deck, according to the airline’s May 2025 announcement. Emirates says the suites have automatic privacy doors; its A380 product page also describes private suites with closing doors and ambient lighting. The airlines’ published information does not provide a reliable, like-for-like measurement that would establish which suite is larger.
What bedding and sleep features are published?
Qantas lists Sheridan bedding, a pillow menu and a memory-foam mattress for its First bed. Emirates describes a fully flat bed with a mattress, pillow and duvet. Those details help identify what is included, but they do not show which bed will feel more comfortable to a particular passenger.

How do dining and onboard service differ?
Qantas: à la carte and companion dining
Qantas describes its international First menu as à la carte, designed by Neil Perry and made to order. The airline also says complimentary snacks and light meals are available at any time and that a passenger can dine with a companion in the First Suite. Menu availability can vary by route.
Emirates: on-demand dining and caviar
Emirates describes personal dining and on-demand menu service on long-haul routes. Its 14 May 2025 announcement says A380 First passengers receive unlimited caviar. The airline also announced service and amenity changes in 2025, including a keepsake menu, caviar bowls and gloved service; check with Emirates if a particular detail is important to your flight.

Which airline has an onboard shower?
Emirates advertises a First Class Shower Spa on the A380. Its May 2025 release specifies two First Class Shower Spas on the A380. The airline cautions that its services are available on selected routes depending on aircraft type, model and configuration, and that operational requirements can result in last-minute aircraft changes.
Qantas’s cited spa treatments are pre-flight treatments at Sydney and Melbourne, not an onboard shower. Its upgraded A380 instead has a shared upper-deck lounge for First and Business passengers. Qantas’s factsheet says the lounge’s booths seat up to 10 passengers; that figure describes the booth seating, not the lounge’s total capacity.

Emirates also has an upper-deck lounge shared by First and Business passengers. If shower access is decisive, verify the aircraft assigned to your specific flight rather than treating the A380 feature as guaranteed.
What ground services should you check?
Qantas’s First flyer lists priority boarding, lounge access and complimentary LaGaia spa treatments at Sydney and Melbourne, subject to the flyer’s location and service qualifications. Emirates’s A380 First page lists airport lounge access and chauffeur-drive among First Class benefits. Eligibility and availability depend on the airport and itinerary, so check the terms for your booking rather than assuming a benefit applies everywhere.

How to compare the actual flights before booking
Both products described here are specific to A380 First Class, not a guarantee of what every flight on either airline offers. Qantas’s features refer to its upgraded A380 product; Emirates explicitly says route, aircraft model and configuration affect availability. Flight schedules and aircraft assignments can change.
- Confirm the aircraft and cabin. Check the operating carrier, aircraft type and First Class cabin for each flight. For Qantas, confirm the applicable upgraded A380 configuration; for Emirates, verify that the itinerary is scheduled with an A380 and check current aircraft information.
- Check features that matter most to you. If you want an onboard shower, confirm the Emirates aircraft and service. If you value companion dining, check the Qantas A380 product details. For either airline, review the current route-specific dining and ground-service information.
- Compare the whole itinerary. Consider departure airport, arrival time, connections, lounge and airport benefits, total fare or award cost, and the rules attached to the ticket. The more appealing cabin feature may not outweigh a less convenient schedule or a different overall trip cost.
- Recheck close to departure. Aircraft assignments can change for operational reasons. If a specific feature is essential, confirm it with the airline before travel and understand that a scheduled configuration is not a guarantee.
Is there a clear winner?
The published descriptions support a feature-based choice, not an objective ranking. Emirates is the relevant option if an A380 onboard shower is a priority and the flight is confirmed to have the required configuration. Qantas may better match a traveler who values its described bedding details, made-to-order à la carte dining or the option to share a meal in the suite. Preferences about privacy, sleep and service are personal, and airline product pages do not establish independent service quality or reliability.
