Choose a PSA service level using the card’s realistic value after grading, then decide whether a shorter estimated wait or included extras are worth paying for. The tier is the price, queue, Max Insured Value cap, and package of extras—not a different grading scale. As of November 2026, U.S. public prices run from $39.99 for Value to $9,999 and up for Premium 10; Value is open again, but its estimate is 90–100 business days. These estimates are not guarantees, and PSA can move an item to a higher-priced level if it determines the card’s post-grade value exceeds the chosen cap.
What does a PSA grading tier determine?
A PSA service level determines what you pay, the maximum value PSA assigns to the item for service and insurance purposes, the estimated queue, and which extras are included. It does not change the 1–10 grading scale. Cards at every open tier go through PSA’s authentication and grading process; a more expensive tier buys a higher value limit, a faster estimated queue, and sometimes added services—not a better grade.
PSA’s trading-card grading page lists the live menu. The prices and turnaround estimates below reflect the U.S. card menu on 29 October 2026, after Value reopened. Prices and availability can change as PSA adjusts capacity, so confirm the current menu before submitting. These are card-service details: PSA said the October price and turnaround updates applied to cards, not to comics, magazines, video games, tickets, packs, or other categories.
How much does PSA grading cost, and how long does each tier take?
For a U.S. card, the public options currently range from $39.99 to $9,999 and up per card. PSA quotes turnaround in business days, with the clock starting when a submission reaches Order Prep—not when you mail it.

Price and plan information checked 29 October 2026. Prices are U.S. list prices per card, not a complete estimate of postage, taxes, or other charges. Turnaround estimates are PSA’s, not guaranteed delivery dates. Value’s international list prices are $56.99 CAD in Canada, €39.99 in Europe, and ¥5,980 in Japan; the Max Insured Value remains $500. Japan’s Value estimate is 120 business days.
Premium 10 pricing steps upward above a $350,000 Max Insured Value: the starting price is $9,999 at $350,000 or less, then PSA adds $399 for each $10,000 or fraction thereof above $350,000. PSA’s example for a $425,000 value is $13,191 ($9,999 plus eight $399 increments). If a card may be worth more than $250,000, check the live service page and confirm the appropriate level and fee before submitting.
Some older pages and discussions still use retired names. PSA renamed Regular to Priority and Walk-Through to Premier in September 2026; older Economy and Value Plus references should not be treated as open options unless PSA’s live card menu lists them. Value Bulk remains paused, with no announced reopen date. The current public Value tier is open; that does not mean the membership-only bulk tier has reopened.
Which PSA service level should I choose?
First estimate what the card would fairly sell for after PSA assigns a grade. Then choose a service level whose Max Insured Value is above that estimate. If the card’s value fits a cheaper tier, you may still select a higher tier to shorten the estimated wait, but that only buys queue priority and included extras.
- Estimate the likely grade and graded market value. Use a realistic grade estimate and recent relevant sales, not the price you paid or an optimistic listing price. PSA’s FAQ describes Max Insured Value as your estimate of the item’s value after it has been assigned a grade. PSA suggests resources including Photograde, its Price Guide, auction prices realized, trade publications, and PSA dealers. PSA does not appraise a card for you. If using Assisted Submission, review the system’s estimated graded value rather than accepting it blindly.
- Match the value cap. The cap matters for the service-level fee and for claim and shipping coverage. PSA’s terms say to select a service level with a Max Insured Value greater than your estimate of post-grading fair-market value. Use a higher bracket if the value is near a threshold or uncertain; do not treat a tier boundary as permission to understate the card.
- Decide whether the time savings justify the difference. Compare the estimate with your actual deadline: an upcoming show, planned listing, or cash-flow need may make a faster tier worthwhile. A speed upgrade does not improve the grade itself.
- Pay for extras only if you value them. Priority adds a fitted sleeve protector. Express is the first level that includes eligible Grader Notes. Super Express and above switch to high-resolution Premium Imaging.
As a quick U.S. guide for 29 October 2026: a card expected to be worth up to $500 after grading can go to Value if the long estimate is acceptable, or Standard if you want a shorter posted estimate. A card valued above $500 through $1,000 needs at least Standard; above $1,000 through $1,500, Priority; above $1,500 through $2,500, Express; above $2,500 through $5,000, Super Express; above $5,000 through $10,000, Premier. Higher expected values require the relevant Premium level. At every boundary, PSA’s rule is that the selected cap should exceed the estimated fair-market value.
For example, moving a $1,200 card from Priority ($79.99 and 50–60 business days) to Express ($199 and 20–30 business days) costs $119.01 more per card. That can make sense if roughly a month-plus of calendar time matters enough for the sale or event; it is not a way to buy a better grade. If the wait is not economically important, the lower eligible tier is the more direct choice.

What does Max Insured Value mean?
Max Insured Value (MIV) is your estimate of a card’s fair-market value after grading, and it determines the maximum tier value PSA will accept for that item. PSA’s FAQ says it also sets the maximum item value for a claim connected with the item while at PSA and for return-shipping insurance. It is not simply the card’s purchase price, declared raw value, or a promise that PSA will pay that amount in every situation.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
PSA’s terms reserve the right to require an adjusted fee at a service level whose MIV exceeds the item’s fair-market value as PSA determines it. If PSA decides after grading that a card’s value exceeds the cap you selected, it may upgrade that card to a higher level and bill the difference; the rest of a multi-card order is not automatically moved up. If you refuse or cannot pay the adjusted fee, PSA says it will return the item unprocessed at your cost and still charge the original service-level fee. PSA says the value adjustment does not affect the grade.
Do not intentionally declare a lower value to save the fee: it can create a larger bill, a delay, or an unprocessed return, while also setting a lower coverage limit. Conversely, selecting a more expensive tier than the value requires is permitted if you want its faster estimated queue. Keep in mind that the posted service price is not necessarily the full cost: mail-in submitters pay return shipping, and the exact current return-postage amount is shown through the submission process rather than established here.
How long does PSA take right now?
PSA’s current estimates range from 90–100 business days for Value to 5–7 business days for Premium levels. These are estimates, not promises. PSA terms state that quoted times are not guaranteed and that “days” means business days unless otherwise stated.
The clock does not begin when your carrier delivers the box. PSA’s checkpoints distinguish Order Arrived (the package is received) from Order Prep (the submission barcode is scanned); Order Prep starts the estimated turnaround clock. So allow additional time for inbound shipping and intake before the quoted service window begins. Weekends and U.S. holidays do not count as business days, which means 90–100 business days spans several calendar months. Payment is requested when grading is complete, and grades are revealed after payment; a declined or delayed payment can hold up completion.
The current Value reopening does not move new orders ahead of cards already in the system. PSA said new Value orders go behind units already received, and the reopening does not reset the estimate for orders already at PSA. Value takes longer partly because PSA is managing a large backlog: its 20 October 2026 tracker reported 7.2 million active units, down from 8.2 million on 6 October. PSA had set a 5 million-unit target for a fuller cheap-tier reopening, but Value returned before that target; the target is not a promised date for Value Bulk.

PSA reported grading about 90,000 cards a day globally in 2026, compared with about 15,000 in 2021, and said output was nearly 50% higher in 2026. Those capacity figures help explain how the company is expanding throughput, but they do not guarantee that a particular submission will finish by a particular date. A small independent GradingTimes sample reported a 117-calendar-day average from submission to completion across 13 mixed-tier PSA orders in 2026; that is a limited sample, not PSA’s service estimate or a reliable prediction for an individual order.
What changed with Value, Standard, and Priority?
Value reopened globally on 29 October 2026 at 8 a.m. Pacific time for the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Japan. In the U.S. it costs $39.99, has a $500 MIV, and is estimated at 90–100 business days; Japan’s estimate is 120 business days. New Value orders wait behind cards PSA already has.
Standard is not a renamed Value. Standard opened in September at $59.99 with a $1,000 cap, and on 28 October its estimate shortened from 90–100 to 70–80 business days. Priority, formerly Regular, is $79.99 with a $1,500 cap and was shortened from 70–80 to 50–60 business days. Express rose to $199 to support its 20–30-business-day estimate. These tiers give readers more open public options than the paused bulk routes, but the lowest-priced tier is not automatically the right one for a card with a higher post-grade value.
Value Bulk remains paused and is available only to Collectors Club members when open. PSA has not announced a return date. Independent trackers also list other bulk variants as paused; do not plan around Value Plus, Value Max, or TCG Bulk unless the live PSA page says the service can be selected. The Collector’s Club is not required for the public Value, Standard, Priority, Express, Super Express, Premier, or Premium levels.
Are Grader Notes and Premium Imaging worth paying for?
These extras matter if you specifically want more information about a grade or better images; they do not change the grade. Value and Standard include standard front-and-back images. Priority adds a fitted sleeve protector on return. Express is the first level with Grader Notes, while Super Express and higher include Premium Imaging and Grader Notes.
Grader Notes describe defects, but eligibility is limited. PSA’s FAQ says they cannot be added below Express. They are not available for PSA 10s, No Grades, Reholders, autograph-only service, or the autograph side of Dual Service; orders submitted outside the United States are currently ineligible. That last limitation matters for international submitters: a higher fee alone does not make Grader Notes available on an order outside the U.S. If Notes are the reason to upgrade, confirm eligibility for the exact service and submission location. Premium Imaging begins at Super Express; Express still has standard imaging.

Do I need Collectors Club to submit?
No. A membership is not required for the currently open public tiers. PSA lists Collectors Club as a way to access member-only services when available, grading specials, PSA Magazine, and—in Premium membership—Card Ladder Pro. PSA’s observed 2026 prices were $149 per year for Standard membership and $199 per year for Premium membership.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do I pack cards for PSA?
For a standard-size card, prepare a submission form, clear penny sleeves, semi-rigid holders, cardboard dividers, rubber bands, bubble wrap, packing tape, and a new shipping box. PSA’s shipping guide specifies semi-rigid holders measuring 3 5/16 by 4 7/8 inches for standard cards. A Card Saver 1 is an example of the holder type; PSA Store listed its PSA x Cardboard Gold 50-count pack at $11.99 on 29 October 2026. The grading service itself is submitted through PSA, not purchased as a retail supply item.
- Place each card in a clear penny sleeve, then slide the sleeved card into a semi-rigid holder with both sides fully visible.
- Arrange the holders in the same order as the submission form. Use cardboard dividers on each side and secure the stack with two or three snug rubber bands; do not crush the cards.
- Wrap the stack, place it in a new box with voids filled so nothing can shift, and put the printed submission form inside. Tape all box seams securely.
- Put the tracking label ID on the outside with its barcode visible. Use the correct receiving address and do not use a label pouch.
- For U.S. card submissions, PSA’s listed addresses are USPS: CU Receiving, P.O. Box 6180, Newport Beach, CA 92658; UPS, FedEx, or DHL: CU Receiving, 1600 E. St Andrew Place, Santa Ana, CA 92705. Check PSA’s current instructions before shipping, because other collectible categories use different receiving locations.
Do not use toploaders, tape, pull tabs, or sticky notes. PSA also advises against hard acrylic cases and screw-down holders; the submission can be delayed and such cases may not be returned. PSA says the sender is responsible for loss or damage during inbound shipping, so use a tracked, insured carrier and pack the cards so they cannot move. PSA’s responsibility begins while items are in its possession, subject to the terms and the selected MIV.
Each service level, holder size, and submission type needs its own form. Keep items in form order: PSA’s How-To Submit PDF warns that out-of-order items can incur a 5% service charge and longer processing. If a box contains multiple service levels, write the highest-priced level on the outside. PSA allows mixed levels in one inbound box, but the levels return as separate shipments; the submitter pays return shipping.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →How are the service level and the actual grade different?
The service level is the submission route; the grade is PSA’s assessment of the card. PSA authenticates first, including checking for alteration such as trimming or recoloring, then assigns a numerical grade from 1 to 10 when the item qualifies. It encapsulates the card in a tamper-evident, sonic-welded holder with a LightHouse label and certification number.
PSA 10 Gem Mint calls for four sharp corners, sharp focus, full original gloss, no staining, and centering no worse than about 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the reverse; a slight print imperfection may be allowed if it does not detract from overall appeal. PSA also uses qualifiers: MK (marks) and MC (miscut) are required where applicable; OC, ST, PD, and OF may be applied at the submitter’s choice between a qualified higher grade and a lower clean grade. A card with evidence of trimming, recoloring, restoration, or questionable authenticity will not receive a numerical grade. Minimum Grade is available only on select service levels, so check the chosen tier rather than assuming it applies to every submission. If you disagree with a grade, PSA’s Review is a paid resubmission, not a free change to the original result.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I put different PSA service levels in one box?
Yes, but each service level needs its own submission form and the card groups should stay in their form order. PSA returns different service levels as separate shipments, so one box going in does not mean all cards return together.
When does PSA charge me, and when will I see my grades?
PSA’s FAQ says payment is requested when grading is complete, and grades are revealed after payment is received. If the payment method fails, the order can be held until the balance is resolved.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Can I change my service level after PSA receives my cards?
The supplied PSA terms describe a possible item-level fee adjustment when PSA determines the card’s fair-market value exceeds its selected cap; they do not establish a general customer right to change a level after receipt. Confirm available options in your submission account before mailing, especially if value or timing is uncertain.
Does PSA guarantee that it will finish within the posted turnaround?
No. PSA’s terms say service time frames are estimates rather than guarantees, and the published estimate begins at the Order Prep barcode-scan checkpoint. Delays in delivery, receiving, payment, or other stages can extend the time until the card is back with you.
Can PSA grade a card that has been trimmed or recolored?
PSA says it will not assign a numerical grade when it finds evidence of trimming, recoloring, restoration, or questionable authenticity. Authentication and alteration checks happen before the numerical grade, so a higher-priced tier cannot bypass that review.
