Our verdict on XStat

XStat is a free, open-source hardware-monitoring application for Windows hosts. It reads live CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, motherboard, and network metrics through LibreHardwareMonitor, then presents them in configurable dashboards and panels. The product is aimed at technical users who want detailed sensor visibility without a paid monitoring tier, especially those building a personal dashboard across a Windows desktop, phone, tablet, secondary monitor, or Android TV display.

The Free plan includes 291+ sensor channels, custom dashboards and widgets, LAN web panel access, an Android companion app, and MIT licensing. Its standout capability is the panel editor: users can arrange resizable and layered widgets with drag-and-drop controls, create multiple named layouts, and import or export layouts as JSON. Custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript widgets with live preview add room for specialized displays beyond the built-in CPU, GPU, memory, storage, motherboard, and network views. Real-time SignalR/WebSocket updates keep panels synchronized with live readings.

XStat’s platform fit is practical but focused. The desktop application runs on Windows 10/11, while LAN web panels support phones, tablets, and secondary monitors through a browser. The Android companion supports Android 5.0+, automatic LAN discovery, reconnect behavior, and full-screen panels. That makes XStat a strong choice for users who want an open-source, customizable Windows-to-mobile dashboard and are comfortable operating within a local network. It is less suitable for teams seeking a broader hosted monitoring service, verified alerting workflows, or a monitoring host outside the Windows ecosystem.
