Our verdict on Glassmkr
Glassmkr is an open-source monitoring product for Linux and bare-metal servers. An agent collects hardware and operating-system metrics, including CPU, memory, network, security signals, SMART disk health, IPMI sensors and system event logs, RAID, and ZFS. Its dashboard evaluates alert rules, shows server health, provides remediation guidance, and supports optional AI analysis. It is suited to teams monitoring physical server fleets that need detailed hardware visibility without a software license fee.
The published plans show two free deployment paths. Hosted Glassmkr provides a dashboard operated by Glassmkr, supports up to 10 nodes per account, and retains history for 90 days. It includes all alert rules and notification channels, a full read and write API, and AI analysis. Notifications can be routed through Email, Telegram, Slack, Discord, PagerDuty, and webhooks. This makes the hosted option a straightforward fit for smaller server groups that want managed access and broad alert delivery without operating the monitoring stack.
Self-hosted Glassmkr is a free, one-time option built on an AGPL-3.0-only stack with no node limit. Telemetry remains on the user's network, while alert rules, notification channels, the full API, and optional AI analysis remain available. The trade-off is operational responsibility: users must operate the databases and handle upgrades, backups, and TLS. The product also focuses on Linux and bare-metal environments rather than presenting a broad multi-platform scope. Choose Glassmkr for hardware-level monitoring, flexible deployment, and automation through its API; choose another product if a managed service for more than 10 hosted nodes or a lower-maintenance self-hosted setup is the priority.
