Our verdict on WealthCounsel

WealthCounsel is a cloud-based legal document drafting and practice-support platform for estate-planning, elder-law, business-law, trust-administration, and firearms-planning attorneys. Its Wealth Docx, Elder Docx, Business Docx, Wealth Tracx, and Gun Docx products combine interactive templates, guided client interviews, dynamic questions, scenario-based drafting, automated document generation, and single-point data entry. It is suited to firms that need practice-specific workflows rather than a general-purpose document builder. Founded in 2000, the platform also includes education, attorney community access, and software support through its memberships.

The membership structure is organized around different practice needs. Essential includes Wealth Docx Core, trusts and estates planning education, attorney community access, and unlimited member and software support. Elder Law Professional adds Elder Docx, Client Intake, LawY AI-powered research, and Flowcharts. Trusts & Estates Professional adds Wealth Docx Complete, Business Docx, Wealth Tracx, Gun Docx, Client Intake, and LawY AI-powered research. Elite combines Wealth Docx Complete with Elder Docx, Business Docx, Wealth Tracx, Gun Docx, and Client Intake. WealthCounsel + LEAP adds more than 300 document templates, automated probate forms, integrated deed preparation and recording services, electronic signatures through InfoSign, and LEAP practice management integration.

Platform fit is a major strength for firms already working across legal practice systems. WealthCounsel supports web, Windows, macOS, and API access, with integrations for LEAP, Clio, DecisionVault, PracticePanther, and Eternal Pro. Selected memberships include AI-powered legal research and matter tools, while client intake offers autosaving and progress tracking. The main tradeoff is breadth tied to membership selection: firms should choose WealthCounsel when estate, elder, business, or trust-administration depth matters, and consider a narrower document automation product when they need only basic templates and generation.
