Our verdict on VoodooPad
VoodooPad is a desktop wiki and note-taking application for macOS, with a separate iOS version for creating, editing, and searching documents. It is designed for people who want to organize notes, images, lists, passwords, files, and URLs in linked pages rather than keep information in isolated documents. Tags, collections, aliases, backlinks, rich-text editing, Markdown, and full-text search support both structured reference collections and flexible personal note-taking. Mac and iOS users are the natural audience, particularly those who want a personal wiki that stays within Apple platforms.
Its strongest area is the depth of its document model. Inter-document links turn pages into a connected knowledge base, while backlinks, aliases, and collections help users navigate related material. Search also works with Spotlight on macOS. For more advanced workflows, VoodooPad includes JavaScript and Python scripting or plugins, page-level and document-level encryption, and a built-in local web server. Dropbox synchronization connects desktop documents with the iOS app, and the product supports Dropbox and Apple Address Book integrations.
VoodooPad is a paid product rather than an ongoing free service, and its trial is limited to 15 pages. Its platform scope is narrow: the listed applications are for macOS and iOS, so users working across Windows, Android, or the web may need another wiki. Sharing is available through HTML, PDF, or ePub exports, a local web server, or a shared Dropbox folder, but the product is better suited to personal knowledge management than to a broad team workspace. Choose it for a private, extensible Apple-based wiki; consider an alternative if cross-platform access or built-in collaboration is central.
