Our verdict on Trackside
Trackside is a running-coach app for Apple Watch users and runners with connected training devices. Its free tier lets runners ask questions using synced training data; Premium adds race plans, chat-based changes, and automatic rebuilds. That makes it a fit for runners seeking adaptive coaching and guided workouts, rather than a clear choice as a standalone activity tracker.
The coaching covers 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, and ultra distances. Premium plans can change through chat and rebuild every two weeks based on completed runs. Trackside sends structured workouts to Apple Watch’s Workout app, while its Watch app guides a scheduled Premium workout step by step, with auto-laps and optional spoken splits. This is a focused training workflow: runners get prompts for planned sessions and can ask questions informed by synced activity, rather than simply collecting run data.
Trackside syncs workouts from Apple Health, Garmin, Polar, Suunto, and Wahoo, accepts FIT, TCX, and ZIP uploads, and can show splits, laps, routes, elevation, and running dynamics when available. The App Store lists Premium at $12.99 and describes monthly memberships, but the billing period for that price is not stated. Choose Trackside if adaptive plans and Apple Watch workout guidance matter more than recording every run directly in the app. Runners who need verified standalone GPS recording or phone-free operation should consider another core tracking option; those capabilities are not verified for Trackside.
