Our verdict on Thinger.io
Thinger.io is an open-source IoT platform for prototyping, deploying, and managing connected products. It is designed for developers, IoT teams, and organizations that need to connect hardware-agnostic devices, store telemetry, monitor status, and visualize data. The platform combines device management, time-series data buckets, configurable dashboards, alarms, rules, APIs, scoped access tokens, and service endpoints. Its support for Linux, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, MQTT, Sigfox, LoRaWAN, HTTP, Node-RED, and IFTTT gives it a broad fit across connected-device projects.
The pricing structure follows a freemium model with a free plan and paid cloud tiers. Cloud Small includes 100 devices, 40 GB of storage, and community support. Cloud Medium increases capacity to 1,000 devices and 80 GB of storage, and adds white labeling and unlimited customers. Cloud Large supports 2,500 devices and 320 GB of storage, with white labeling, unlimited customers, SSO, and daily backups included. Published pricing shows a starting price of 45, with annual billing amounts expressed as monthly equivalents. A lifetime freemium account is described, while the pricing structure does not include a free trial.
Its strongest fit is monitoring-focused IoT work that benefits from real-time and historical dashboards, alarms, rules, REST APIs, webhooks, email, SMS, and other service connections. On-premise and private-cloud deployment also suit organizations that want control over where their IoT platform runs. The product is less suited to teams seeking an analytics environment centered on advanced statistical modeling, SQL workflows, anomaly detection, or machine learning. Choose Thinger.io for connected-device visibility, telemetry management, and deployment flexibility; consider a more analytics-focused platform when data science depth is the primary requirement.
