Our verdict on TerrSet
TerrSet is an integrated desktop geospatial system for researchers, educators, and geospatial professionals working in environmental monitoring, land-use planning, remote sensing, and sustainable development. The current TerrSet liberaGIS release combines GIS analysis and image-processing tools with applications for land-change analysis, Earth-observation time series, habitat and biodiversity modeling, and REDD planning. It is designed for users whose work centers on raster data and environmental modeling rather than broad web-mapping workflows.
TerrSet liberaGIS is distributed as free software and includes GIS analysis, image processing, dynamic environmental modeling, the Land Change Modeler, the Earth Trends Modeler, and the Habitat and Biodiversity Modeler. Its published feature set includes more than 300 raster-oriented tools, along with image restoration, enhancement, transformation, and classification. Specialized capabilities cover land-change analysis and prediction, Earth-observation image time series, habitat assessment, landscape-pattern analysis, biodiversity modeling, and national-level REDD planning and impact mapping with GeOSIRIS.
