Our verdict on Tentris

Tentris is a self-hosted RDF graph database for storing and querying knowledge graphs. It supports RDF 1.1 graph storage, SPARQL 1.1 queries and updates, graph-store endpoints, transactions, and browser-based querying. Its deployment options include binaries, Docker, Python packages, web access, APIs, macOS, and Linux. The free, non-commercial Community edition makes it a fit for individual developers, prototypes, internal projects, and teams that need straightforward RDF serving and ingestion without a hosted dependency.

The Community plan includes high-performance queries and analytics, SPARQL 1.1 and RDF 1.1 support, transactions, a single-core license, in-memory storage, and community support. A 60-day trial is available. Commercial licensing retains the Community features and adds persistent storage, ACID transactions, and an optional commercial SLA. This makes the plan distinction important: teams needing durable production storage or commercial support should evaluate the Commercial tier, while lightweight deployments can start with Community.

Tentris is strongest when the workflow centers on standard RDF formats, SPARQL endpoints, offline dataset loading, and large streamed query responses. Hypertrie-based universal indexing is intended to support its query and storage model, while Docker, Python bindings, RDFLib integration, and an RDF4J-compatible SPARQLRepository HTTP connector help connect it to established RDF workflows. It is less suitable for teams that require built-in reasoning or a broad integration ecosystem. Choose Tentris for focused, self-hosted RDF infrastructure; consider an alternative when reasoning capabilities or extensive platform integrations are core requirements.
