Our verdict on SwiftKanban
SwiftKanban is a visual project management and Kanban tool for teams and enterprises managing structured or complex workflows. Its configurable boards use lanes and columns, while custom card types, templates, fields, WIP limits, and business-rule automation support different operating models. The product also covers Scrum, Scrumban, portfolio Kanban, and read-only board access, making it a fit for Agile teams, enterprise delivery groups, and organizations coordinating work across projects.
The free offering is limited to two boards. The Team plan includes standard templates, basic metrics, and five standard plus five custom card types. Group adds custom templates, advanced reports, Scrumban features, and data import/export. Enterprise expands the scope with unlimited users and boards, dashboards, exhaustive analytics, enterprise boards, card hierarchy, and a portfolio lane. A 30-day trial is stated for Enterprise. SwiftESP adds risk assessment, demand and capability analysis, capacity forecasting, and scope forecasting, while Story Mapping adds three-level hierarchy and release and sprint planning.
SwiftKanban’s strongest differentiator is the depth of its workflow and portfolio model. Teams can apply WIP limits at the column, lane, and user levels, automate card and workflow actions, analyze flow and cycle time, and track dependencies through portfolio hierarchy. TFS, JIRA, CA Agile Central, Zapier, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Outlook, and GSuite support broader ecosystem connections, while REST and SOAP APIs, iOS and Android apps, and self-hosting extend deployment options. Choose it when enterprise controls and Kanban depth matter; teams wanting only a lightweight board may prefer a narrower tool.
